Perfect Pink Lady Dior (Instant Reveal)

It would take quite a bit of "rubbing" as other tpfers have suggested - for there to be this much color loss on the handles. Older Lady Diors, more frequently handled than this one, show no color loss on the handles. Even with such conditions as hand creams and jewelry, etc.

In any case, have you talked to your Dior SA about what you've noticed on your bag? Her response may help you with your decision, as well.

Ultimately, it comes down to this: Are you comfortable with keeping a bag with these "condition" issues? Can you accept this bag as is - in order to have your preferred specifications?

If so, then ask Dior to replace the handles. Since this is a new bag, there's always the possibility of fabulous customer service and receiving such service promptly and gratis. Morever, although twillys would protect the handles, they're not necessary. (However, if you choose to use twillys, remember to let the handles breathe from time to time, too.)

Or, I'd enjoy the bag until the handles experienced enough wear to warrant replacement. The replacement is not excessively cost prohitive.

However, if it's the case that this issue raises some concerns for you... such that you'd rather consider another bag... then return it and wait for the right bag. Although waiting has its drawbacks, you may find a wonderful alternative.

GL!

But here's my dilemma... there is some color that seems to be rubbed off on the handles (3 spots to be exact - I have attached photos showing.. 1 on the side of the handle and then rubbing off on the tops of both handles). I now know this is normal with use.. as since I found it 3 places it seems to be from handling. However, I would really appreciate some elaboration on how delicate the handles are and how easily they will be imperfected (so I know for future use and how careful to be/what to expect). Will this happen for all colors? I was planning a black or red large LD next as my daily bag but may reconsider if this is going to happen.

So, the question is - would you accept a bag like this (i.e. with faults) or would you want something that looks brand new??

This is a big purchase for me so I really wanted it to be absolutely perfect and to be honest I expected perfection from Dior. However, there are only 2 left total in the UK (1 of which I now have).. so it's likely the other has the same marks as well. I guess what concerns me most is that the dots are grey - I don't want the entire handle to be grey in a few months time! For people who own, bals - the color looks exactly like the corners of a bal bag that have been rubbed off.. the grey leather base (pre-dyed).

I love this color, so if it came down to keeping this bag or exchanging for another color I would keep this. I just wonder whether it's worth pursuing to see if I could get one without these faults from the start.

Thank you everyone for your opinions - from helping me decide on the bag to this.. I really appreciate all of you TPFers for your guidance

Dior USA is closed today but I left a message. I also emailed my SA in the UK and said I wasn't happy with it but she's on holiday til tomorrow. I'd be very happy though either exchanging for another or getting the handles replaced.

I was hoping to use the bag in new condition til the handles darkened and then add twillies. Maybe I could find a different necklace with less silver too but I really like it just normally in this color

We'll just have to see what dior says and then take it from there. I hope they can help though as the more I think of it the more I think it's too much wear for the price. There's several in the US so I hope one is in good condition

Also how much is it to replace handles? Im not willing to pay for this now as I literally bought it yesterday but I it'd be good to know for the future

I wouldn't be surprised if your Dior SA suggests:

1. wear it until it really needs to be repaired
2. repair it (local leather specialist)

... before replacing the handles or returning it and searching for a new one.

However, if this is the combination that you want... you do have the option to search for another. Just bear in the mind that you may not find another in the condition you prefer. Or you may. There's no way to be certain. Even with photos and SA assurances that a Lady Dor is perfect, prior to being shipped to you.

I don't think your SA will suggest replacing the handles, if the handles can be repaired locally. However, if it is necessary to replace the handles, I imagine that such a service would be free for a bag so recently purchased.

I searched this forum for a price quote on handle replacement and couldn't find any information, but I remember it being in the same ballpark as the repair costs for other designer handbags. Also, you might find it interesting that a couple of tpfers have noted that handles may not be replaceable on seasonal, limited colors. Something to consider for your next LD. Nevertheless, if you are interested in Lady Diors in seasonal colors, ask your SA about future handle replacement. If she confirms that they can't be replaced for seasonal colors, then you may want to keep in mind that there are ways to address future color loss by a leather specialist, instead.

Also, my Lady Diors, which are older than yours, have had no color loss or damage otherwise with, what I'd consider, normal use.

Good luck!

Mine looks okay so far, but I don't use it as an everyday bag. Just as the other tpfer mentioned, I remember my SA said we can always replace the handle and strap, even after many years. Good luck!

Thank you both for your replies. It's good to hear that this kind of wear-and-tear is uncommon. I love this pink but I think for my future large I will be looking for a classic color - probably black or something dark for more every day use.

I have spoken to CS through the Dior 1800 number who has taken my info and I have forwarded images and my receipt to them. They seemed to understand the difficulties of getting it back to the UK as I am now in the US - plus the fact that there may not be any there. They said they should get back today or at latest tomorrow... til then just patiently waiting

Congrats on getting your new Lady Dior! Hopefully they can do the exchange for you as I wouldn't accept a bag with the handles already worn away. I hope it will get resolved for you quickly.

So Dior USA wouldn't offer an exchange (although I did speak to a lovely SA named Rosalina at The Mall in Short Hills NJ which I HIGHLY recommend), but Heathrow airport is offering new handles free of charge! Phew - I'm so relieved. Now I can finally use it! Note to self: never buy a bag not in person at the airport again!

Great news!!

And, I agree. Never buy an expensive bag - not in person - anywhere! ;)

I echo this immensely.

Yeah it's always best to see the item in person before buying.
