I just got this George V in gray suede. I purchased it at Barneys but it was not a planned purchase; more of a sale impulse buy.

I am trying to decide if I want to keep it. I already have a large gray BV, but no suede bags and no large totes. What are your thoughts? Do you think suede might be too delicate?

I have a beige leather George V, and it is a wonderful bag - so lightweight and roomy, and it collapses to almost flat when it's not very full. It stays on the shoulder, never slips off, and is easy to get into. Love it!

I'm not sure about how delicate suede would be. I guess it depends on how fussy you are about your bags. I was hesitant about getting the beige since it's so light in color, but it's been fine so far. I don't put it on the floor, however, but I also don't really baby it. I always spray my bags (including suede ones) with waterproofing before I use them, and I think it really helps. I would definately spray suede since when it's untreated it tends to pick up dirt and rain/water marks.

It does look really nice on you! Good luck with your decision.

I think it's a pretty bag and looks great on you. I would definitely be worried about the suede though - I never buy light-color suede bags. But you could probably use a suede protector to ward off stains.

I think the bag will wear really well. Its definitely not one to stay pristine, it will gradually gain marks and will be gorgeous if thats the look you appreciate. Its such a well designed functional bag, I think if you bring it into a special shop that deals with leather and suede they may be able to water proof the bag, and probably be able to clean it when it gains any blemishes.

Sadly I did not. It was a total impulse buy that I couldnt justify with all the other bags I have.

Does anyone else have a George V? I am in the market for one, it will be my first Givenchy and I wanted to hear thoughts on how practical it was for a day to day bag.
