Default Nordstrom Rack - Numbers written in sharpie inside of purses!
Hi all,

I just discovered that the Treesje bag I bought from Nordstrom Rack has a few numbers written in sharpie on the inside of the zippered pocket in my bag! I am a little mad that I bought it and after I didn't find it until weeks later. WHY on earth does Nordstrom Rack do this??! Anyone have purses bought from Nordstrom Rack and had this same problem?!

Not that I know of, no. Can you exchange it still? I think they have a 30 day policy dont they? I would go to the store and see if they can let you return it. That's very frustrating.

I can still exchange it, but I don't think I will because I really like the bag, I just want to know why on earth they wrote it in SHARPIE! Now I can't even wash it off... :( Thanks for your reply! I appreciate it!

I bought a purse from the rack a while back and also had the numbers. When I called about it, they just said it's to avoid customers being able to return it since it was a final sale. I just wish they'd notify the customers ahead of time before doing something like this. But I've seen this happen pretty frequently.

I've noticed that on the bottom of their designer shoes occasionally. An SA told me that it meant the item may have been a display piece or part of a window setting. Prop numbers I guess.

I bought a Lacoste bag a while back and it didn't have the numbers. I've done so many researching and googling and all I came up with is "yellow stickers" or something which means "final sale" but never a sharpie!!! That is just pathetic. Why can't they just get a sticker or piece of paper, label it, and then tape it somewhere on the merchandise? SO LAME.

This is the reason why I dont like Nordstrom Rack, besides their inventory usually stinking.

that is such a lame excuse-- the final sale thing. they had an actual tag on the inside of it saying FINAL SALE but also felt the need to write the numbers in permanent sharpie marker....it bugs me and it looks ugly even though no one can see it!

I have seen those sharpie written numbers in Nord's Last Chance bags. Last Chance is their NR outlet store outside Phoenix. I haven't seen it in the NR bags, but am not surprised.

I don't get it. Why ruin a bags value on purpose?

Thanks for sharing that. We just opened a Nordstrom rack last week so i'll have to notify friends and family about it? Just curious, how much was the purse?

I've been hearing this for years, it's so you can't take it to a reg Nords and exchange for full original price I believe.

^^ Yes that's what I was told by an SA at Neiman's Last Call. They do the same thing on some of their bags, not all. You would think that outlets for higher end stores would find a less obnoxious way to mark a bag then sharpie sku numbers.

@Estrella7: the treesje bag was $289.00, used to be $595.00. even though this isn't that pricey compared to other bags, i don't think they have a right to deface the bag the way they did.

Holt Renfrew had a Last Call in the suburbs and they would take a red Sharpie and cross out the designer label on the clothes, once you purchased it.

I used to scream at them - "don't make a huge mark, just a little will be fine" - but they did it big anyway. Occasionally they would use a black Sharpie which didn't look as bad as the red, but the red crossing out through through the label? Yikes. Try hanging your jacket over a chair and see what that looks like! I never go there anymore.

ok... at my local Nordstrom Rack (Mall of America), they also carve a tiny little "R" on sunglasses... i realize the prices on their designer sunglasses are great deals (usually under $100, even with tax) BUT i can't get over that flaw, even though it's intentional. i have a few pairs, but i've since stopped buying sunglasses there.
