The ability to file a chargeback when necessary is an option granted to us by our financial institutions, and I see nothing wrong with using it when necessary.
I'll say this again. When I return an item to Bluefly and they resell it on the site and *still* will not give me an ETA on my refund, after quite some time, yes a chargeback IMO would be my only route. I see nothing wrong with this. Fortunately for me, the simple threat of a chargeback was enough to get their butt in gear.
As far as Bluefly's low prices, I will have to respectfully disagree with you. Their prices are absolutely insane and nine times out of ten are higher than multiple other retailers. They consistently inflate retail prices in addition to not having great "discounts" in the first place. So honestly, no. I will not put up with the refund timeframe in order to garner maybe 2% off MSRP. I'd rather shop at Saks and pay full price than deal with Bluefly ever again.

My bold.
I'm sorry, but that's rubbish.
Bluefly's prices are nine out of ten times LOWER than retail prices. If the odd item has been incorrectly marked, it could be because it slipped through the net, rather than because they deliberately set out to cheat the customer.
I recently bought a Proenza Schouler wallet which I'd seen at
Barneys and was marked at $560. I paid about 50% less on
Bluefly and didn't have to pay a cent in sales tax. It was the same with a Lanvin clutch - again, 50% off - and a pair of Miu Miu flats (70% off). They offer some great deals every now and again, and if furthermore one uses coupons one can always find on sites like retailmenot, you end up saving a LOT, not just a paltry 2%.
Their processing of returns leaves a lot to be desired, sure enough, but I've always been refunded back within a month, and trust me, I've returned a LOT. They even honoured a couple of my returns even though it'd been north of 40 days since I'd bought the item. It usually takes about 7-10 days for UPS to deliver the package back to
Bluefly, and after about 4-5 days, one gets return notification asking me to give them 10 days to process the return. I've always had to mail them again after 10 days to remind them of the return, upon which I get refunded in about 2-3 days. So yes, it takes about 25-30 days, but in the larger scheme of things, I think the pros outweigh the cons. I'd rather wait an additional 10-15 days to be refunded than pay $300 more.
And yes, they do charge $7 for the return, but then again even department stores charge either a restocking fee or a return fee when one chooses to return items purchased online.
Barneys.com charge $10 and take about 20 days to process returns, and so do Neiman and Saks, if I'm not very mistaken. Only
Nordstrom offers free shipping both ways.
