High School was an interesting time for me.. I graduated in 1999.

When I was a freshman I was in the "goth/stoner/punkish" group I guess you could say.. Well, my high school at the time was in a small Texas town so you can imagine what that was like. We always sat on the floor together for lunch and people would throw random things at us like french fries and ice.. my friend actually got pelted by a corn cob once! People would always ask me if I could sell them some pot too. I guess when you wear black you are automatically a drug dealer

In the second half of my freshman year I was taken out of public school and sent to a private boarding school and I only went home for Christmas.. it sucked so bad. I hated it so much that I worked really hard and graduated a year early to get the hell out of there. In boarding school one fond memory I have is smoking out of the bathroom windows in the girls dorm. Lame.. I know. I did make some good friends there though.. When you live with the people you really do grow a bond.

So I just graduated, but my best memory would have to be WHEN I GOT ONTO HOMECOMING COURT! Sure, I didn't WIN HOMECOMING QUEEN, but getting onto the court got ALOT of popular girls angry at me. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!!

My favorite high school memory was defiantly me cheerleading and I got away with so much crap!! My uniform was like a security badge and got to go off campus to get lunch when we weren't allowed to. Gave us POLICE escort to all games and shows (ahaha, we felt all VIP!!), dancing in front of my peers, and DF would even come to watch me. And he was like, "Yaa!! That's my hot GF cheering!!" LOL. I loved having my friends and family there cheering me on with signs that said, "Go Missie" and what not. On my birthday they had sooo many signs up saying Happy Birthday to me!! They even got the whole auditorium to sing happy birthday to me!! All decorated just for me in PINK!! It was hilarious. Football and basketballs got soooo jealous, a cheerleader had signs and they didnt. Haha, someone cheering for a cheerleader. Hehee!! They had ribbon in their hair and even colored their faces and chanted and sang with all of our cheers. My Mom was always so proud of me!! Being there after half time to hand me my ice cold water and pizza. Then taking me where ever I wanted after my games. Hehe!! Memories!!

HOW EXCITING! oo0ehxtahcee0oo I've always DREAMED of becoming a cheerleader.. but....... my high school was sort of a "loser" school and our football team ALWAYS lost... so I didn't really want to be in a team of less than 10 girls and pay so much money for the uniform.....

ya our football team has a killer record!! ZERO WINS!! hahaa!! we always cheered on the other team. HAHA, but our basketball team was amazing!! never lost any school games, however we did lose at state level. but when i was cheering, at that time we were placed 2ed in the state or something like that! hahaa!! at that time, we had a record of not losing ONE high school (not state levels) game in like 47 years. heheee. so football may have sucked, but basketball was amazing!! plus it was indoors and not cold! and we had just gotten a BRAND NEW amazing gym as a gift from the government!! you would've been a kick a$$ cheerleader im sure!!

Atleast your school was good @ SOMETHING oo0ehxtahcee0oo! My school LOST EVERYTHING! Our only good team was our girl's volleyball BUT our school's cheerleaders don't cheer for anything else besides FOOTBALL, so there was really not a good point for me to join, atleast IMO. Haha.

BUT..

I was a dancer! Hehe, I was in a dance team called CHOREO short for CHOREOGRAPH and I was captain and I got to dance in the front for all our performances during pep rallys and football games! (I think our dance teams were way more interesting than cheer) such as drill team and choreo...

There's another highlight of mine!

i have so many, too many to get into!

but i will say one general thing, i suppose a bit of advice to you, you can choose to keep in mind or not as you start high school :)

i think one of the fundamental reasons why i enjoyed my high school years is because i was so much more INNOCENT back then, and i have a hunch that part of that was due to my growing up in a bit of more an "innocent" time. there was basically no internet, kids having cellphones was unheard of, expectations for girls in terms how they look, what they should spend on fashion/accessories, etc were much lower, relatively nonexistant compared to these days. whether we knew it or not, this kept us living free and in the moment, we made our own fun, weren't touched as much by adult pressures. the SIMPLE things were what made our high school years fun! we didn't have the option to keep ourselves occupied on the computer, there wasn't as much pressure to live up to a standard of looking perfect...looking back now, it seems like this added so much to the carefree feelings of my youth. what i wouldn't give to go back and experience them again...

i realize that times have changed a LOT, even if only in fifteen years or so (god i feel old, seems like HS was YESTERDAY!), and it's much harder to live free of these things. but when i see high school girls these days, i feel a little sad that they have to deal with things i never had to. pressures of being a teenager have always existed, but they don't seem to ever have been as scarily intense, constant and extreme as they are these days.

so, my advice, finally lol- keep it simple! don't let the pressures get to you, if there's one time in your life when you can live completely free of worry about living up to standards and responsibilities, it's now. you'll have fun naturally, whatever you choose to do, if you make sure this modern world doesn't force you to grow up too fast.

good luck!

MichelleAntonia thank you for sharing your experience and thoughts/advice!

Sounds like you were in high school during the "good innocent times". I dream Hehe, that's why I'm such a Vintage/Hippie chick!
of being in high school or being some where near that time! I'm not a huge fan of this century.... ahahha. I dream about being in the 80s or 90s all the time

anna, I totally agree with you. I wish the world was different and more simple.
I have a few friends that moved this summer and they will be starting completely over, so I feel really fortunate now. I still know a lot of people, just starting over when it comes to my little "group" of friends that I spend the most time with. I still have a lot of friends that I'm just not as close to. i will be fine, must keep telling myself that!

Hehe. I wish the world would just freeze all this commotion and let people realize there's MORE TO THE WORLD than just all this "new" creations... things were definetly different back then (even though I was not even born yet!) everything seemed more .. clean and simple and easy!

The few friends? meaning like old friends you lost contact with or just friends in general?

Do you still keep in contact with your "best friends" from high school? I just graduated and is already losing touch with 1 girlfriend of mine whom I love oh so dearly

Um I'm going into high school in the fall. My 4 closest friends are going to different schools (boundaries, 2 moved). I'm just saying I would rather not have to make new BEST friends. I don't mind losing my other friends that I'm not as close to. I mean, I will miss them a lot but it's not the same as the girls that you can share everything with.

OPPS! I'm sorry frostedcouture, I totally thought you were MichelleAntonia who already graduated. Silly me! Sorry!

OH! Well I wish you the bets of luck in high school! I just graduated and well, I never had ALOT of friends. Freshman year I was a bad kid... sophomore year.. I hung out with one of my best gay bestfriends, junior and senior year was where I "discovered" my bestfriends. And I only have 2 :)

You will find yours! That's what high school is all about! Goodluck girly :)

No problem, just a mistake :) Thanks so much for the encouragement! I always think I'm shy, but when I'm around people I'm familiar with I just kind of come out of my shell and I'm very outgoing. Somehow I manage to have a lot of friends.
