Although I am kind of glad that Alex Rodriguez is back to his usual October form - I do not like rooting for him and I would trade him for magic beans at this point.
What is going on with Rodriguez? I hate to jinx it (and have him turn it around) but he looks awful. I was a little worried when it seemed Pedro was going after him (thought he'd bounce back after the terrible performance in Game 1) but he is not even there.

That's pretty much what he always does in the playoffs. And I guess since it's the WS he would be even LESS clutch.

Just wait until there is a lopsided game, he will be on point! And just think, we have him signed for the rest of my natural life!

Just want to remind everyone that Hideki will not be playing in Philly for the next few games. He's been the only Yankees hitter that has hit consistently for the first two games.
Last night's game was just weird. I mean the double play in the 7th. It looked like Howard caught it before it bounced, but I honestly didn't see JRoll tag Posada. I guess it was a lucky break and I'll take it.
I agree about the Rivera strike zone being generous, but I guess the that was offset by the double play.

Last night's game after the 7th inning was very weird indeed. But the beginning of the game was great....I am NY Yankees die hard fan....I was sooo happy that AJ did what he was brought here to do....I wanted a good World Series and it seems that I got my wish. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's game because I love to see Andy Petitte pitch! As for A-Rod being handcuffed these past few days....welll remember he goes hot then cold then hot again...I just hope that now that Big Tex is starting to come around he will be getting better pitches....Go Yankees!!!

I will say I am a little disappointed in some of the sports reporting. It was nothing but raves for AJ and he pitched well, but come one, Lee's game was better and record setting.
Pettite vs Hamels should be a good match up for Saturday night.

We've discussed this in the football thread, but ITA. I don't like my team being on the receiving end of the fap either - I just wanna watch the game!

If you happened to catch Peter Gammons he actually gave Cliff Lee the appropriate props for his masterpiece - he actually said it made his top 10 WS performances ever.

But balanced sports reporting appears to be entirely gone.

A little OT, but I just have to say, it's not only sports reporting that is lacking. Every day the press reports either out and out lies, or just doesn't take the time to do the honest research required. They have an agenda...

Oh I know that we've all noticed it with football. I did catch Gammons comments and that was awesome. But I swear if you listened to SportsCenter this morning, they said something like Cliff Lee got lucky. Burnett consistently plays well and that is why they thought he had a better game. I mean come the eff on! I think I just need to stop watching SportsCenter all together.

Yeah, it's a little ridiculous. Yanks drop game 1, the entire Baseball Tonight crew (save for Kruk, who had already picked Philly) jumped ship on the Yanks. Can't wait to see if they want to re-revise their "predictions" now that it's split so they can claw back onto the Yankees' wangs. I already had to stop watching 1st and 10 earlier this season after Mark Buehrle's perfect game - according to Skip Bayless (I know he is just there to be a hater, but it was just ridiculous), it was just luck and the umpire handed it to him. And Tim McCarver & Joe Buck make me wish I was back in NY so I could mute the TV and turn on the radio.

And to call Burnett consistent is pretty much proof that they were not actually watching the entire season. I love AJ Burnett and he was the only guy pitching well in our god-awful April & May, but consistent? For real? Hell to the no. Loveable, yes. Consistent? Not really.
