But regime= government in power, ruler
regimen= routine

So it's not a workout "regime."

In the variety of English that I speak (Southern Irish English) and write (usually Standard Irish/ British English), regimen is not usually part of the lexicon. Regime is used in the governmental sense, but also in the sense of a routine- I'd always thought regimen was a made up word At least when I visit the States in the future, I'll know what to say so I don't get funny looks

I've nothing better to do, so I looked up the OED online. Your meaning of regimen, regarding fitness and health, is in it. The last recorded use of it in this sense is in 1899, so it might be a conservative feature that has been preserved in the States, but fell out of use here. Glad I learned something new today though

Not really an annoying word, but a phrase I hate to hear from people.

"Boy, you really look tired"

when it is directed at me.

Seems like another way of saying "You look like hell." The worst is when you actually aren't tired and are told that!

Are we long lost sisters? I completely despise hearing that too.

I bumped in to a 'friend' (long story) I hadn't seen in about a year...and he said, "Wow, you're looking really healthy". The last time I had seen him, I was quite athletic and perfectly healthy. Draw your own inferences!

I hate it when my parents (who I visit once a month as they live 3 hours away) say almost every time I see them, "have you lost more weight?". I'm the only one in my family that's naturally slim and I honestly believe there's some underlying jealousy there because my family comment on my size without fail every time I see them. And it drives me CRAZY! Especially because I've been this height, shape and weight for about 6 years now.

^^^ Ok I've never actually heard someone do that, but if I did, they would be up for a complete b*tch-slapping

"Do I look too fat in these jeans?"

This doesn't annoy me as such, but I have a pretty bad sense of humour so I usually respond:

"Um, no, I think you look just fat enough."

Oh, bad person!
