How did this negative word become so positive? Guys describe themselves as dorks...girls flirt with guys saying they're dorks...I absolutely don't get it.
"dork" has taken a long walk down Usage Road and morphed.

It now, for most people, is used to mean something between clumsy and geeky, or someone who is a bit goofy, maybe a smoosh out of the loop, and as such, it can be used both in a light-hearted self-deprecating jest sort of way, or as a term of affection!

So guilty. But just to clarify, the usage of 'prolly' is just shorthand and not because I actually think I'd find the word in the dictionary.

"You know what I mean", or "You know what I'm sayin'"

Also, I once had a friend who would cringe any time someone said scrotum...she hated it.

Questions:

What does FUBAR stand for?

And also, I never understood the point of the "C" word? What is it supposed to convey...I guess no one in my polite company ever used that word and I never heard of it until I got older.

Thanks!

And 'conversate'. I cringe when I hear that.

And that stupid song that goes "...too late to POLOGIZE." Makes me want to throw things.
If you listen to it closely, they do have the "a" on the beginning of the word, they just say it faster so you don't really hear it. It's more "toapologize" since they say it fast.

With songs it's just artistic license, is it not? The only time I can see letting song lyrics bother me is if they are violent.

I'm pretty sure they aren't meaning "a stringed instrument!" when they reveal their new purchases.

On that same note...I hate when people say/type "wa-la", "waa-laa" (or other variations that start with a W) when they mean "voilą".

The word is French and begins with a "V"...please say/write it!

I'm sorry, I haven't read through all 15 pages so I don't know if this has already come up:
I hate it when people use 'would of', 'should of' or 'could of' in place of 'would HAVE', 'should HAVE' and 'could HAVE'.

I also hate 'orientate' and 'conversate', which I think were mentioned in the first few pages.

I could go on, but I'll leave it at that for now.

People need to learn who goes first in a sentence. Drives me nuts.

It's not "Me and Lori are going to the mall." It's "Lori and I are going to the mall."

When people type "alot" it drives me nuts. It's not ALOT it is A LOT. TWO WORDS.

Oh and when people pronounce the 't' in often. I know it's spelled with a t, but the correct way to pronounce it is "off-en".
