IMO, you're standing IN a line, not ON it.
I think that one depends on what country the line is in.

I DISLIKE THIS, TOO!

A friend of mine says this all the time! She's already a mom and her little boy is taking after her affinity for the word!

Mommy! That's hella cool!

OK, has anybody ever had one that was just a word that you didn't think about one way or another, but ended up being an unfair victim of guilt by association?

Mine is "robust." I really had no opinion about it, used it when applicable, but somebody started writing it into the speeches of particularly distasteful public figure, and I have not been able to bring myself to use it since, which is especially irrational considering that it is hardly the only word used by the vile individual, but I will knock myself out, write a whole descriptive paragraph, just to avoid using that word!

Hmm, I hear it a lot in the U.S. though and it's been happening a lot more lately.
To me, "on line" means you're on the Internet, not standing in a line.

When people say "mines" instead of mine.

Also when people type "bb" to someone online.

"Whatever you say, bb."

Saying nook-you-ler instead of "nuclear" (ahem, Mr. President....)

Using apostrophes and semicolons incorrectly - as a general rule, if you're not absolutely sure you need one, you probably don't.

Anyways drives me up the wall. So does Alls (Alls you have to do is...).

I don't mind the C word too much, and get a kick out of my friend who always says C U Next Tuesday instead to refer to another friend of mine who he hates.

I hate the word bicker (and bickering). My mom used to say it to us with my brother & I would argue.

Also hate the use of "myself" instead of me or I. I think people say it to make themselves sound professional, but it has the opposite effect.

"What's His Name." My DH says it all the time. "Did you call the What's His Name?" instead of "Did you call the bank to transfer money?" I think I'm actually psychic because lately I usually know what he's trying to say, but I hate the expression (and he does it because he's distracted, not because he forgot), so I always say "I don't know who What's His Name is."

I never like when people say dinner instead of lunch or supper instead of dinner (probably a regional thing?).

I never got used to "sneakers" either - I always said tennis shoes or tennies.

Oh, and floorboards. Never understood that one. (floor of the car)

^^^ The floorboards I think I can explain. The floors of early "horseless carriages" were actually made of boards, just like their horse-containing predecessors, and for some reason, the term stuck!

When people refer to their car as a "vehicle" all the time. Like, "My vehicle is right there...let's go in my vehicle!"

The phrase "I'm not gonna lie" -- "I'm not gonna lie, I was so mad!" Why would you lie about being mad?

The word tampon. If I hear someone ask for one or refer to one I inwardly cringe for some reason!

"Emo" and "Scene" - pretty self-explanitory.

And finally...

Epitome. Because I embarrassed myself when I pronounced it epi-toe-m... epi-toe-mee sounds weird though!

Not so much a word, but a string of them. When a person is trying to recall a conversation, and instead of using the actual words spoken, they say"blah, blah, blah". I take this to mean that what blah represents really isn't that significant, ergo this conversation isn't either. If you can't be bothered to tell me the whole story, don't waste my time.

wow that was really hard. but I literally just copied that from someone's myspace page.
Ohhhh that kills me! It's like they're trying to send some cryptic message...

And on the myspace page note, almost the majority of girl's myspace pages make me want to scream.

Hmm well I'll have to file that under words not to sound out like they are spelled. When I was a little girl one of our first car trips was to California, on the way we went to yosemite I can remember looking out from the back seat and seeing the big green sign. I was so excited! I yelled out "Look! There's the way to yo-se-mite!" my brother hit me on the head so hard it still hurts!

That one, I KNOW is regional. I've heard a lot of people from the midwest use it as well.
I was watching an older movie the other day (my dad watches lots of Westerns) and they said it this way too lol.

And also, supper vs. dinner is regional as well...I notice the West uses "dinner" more and the east/midwest uses "supper" more. Kind of like the soda vs. pop thing.
