Default Winter Storm :(
Wow.

We are in SF and it's super scary outside

I remember last year's storm, 3 days after new year's day

It was my first storm and I was completely freaked out (I'm from Lima and it does not rain enough for you to even bother with an umbrella)...

Anyone else stayed in?

My commute from my house to work usually takes 20-25 mins. This morning it took a full 50 mins! I thought the power was going to go out while I did my makeup, lol.
Love the rain, but hate driving in it.

My dog also hates me right now because I had to put him out in it. (He has a dogloo to stay dry.) Poor guy.

Wow lil_peanut that is quite the delay in commute!

I don't drive, and so when I called in to find out what the situation was at my job downtown, a manager told me that a bunch of people had called out already... "it's just rain!" Yeah right! The swinging trees and the shaking lamp post outside would strongly disagree

Here are some pics I just took:

That lamp post in the back has been shaking for the past 2 hours... it was totally freaking me out.

It's like we are inside a washing machine

The backyard. Those little trees are about to give in...

I read this violent storm system hitting SF (and coming toward me later today) is a remnant of Typhoon Melor that hit Japan late last week.

From the SF Chronicle: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...BA7T1A4KE7.DTL

Batten down the hatches and stay safe! It will pass soon!

I'm really scared now The walls are shaking rather violently and the rain won't stop.

It feels as if someone had taken a huge hose and is washing down the house with the water at full force

I just saw a guy walking his dog outside... Trooper or crazy?

Yup, we're soaked over here as well in my neighborhood. Our windows are so old that they don't seal correctly anymore, so I put blue painter's tape around the edges to help keep out the drafts. And water is coming in too. At one point I have to run down to the mailbox ... I will probably do it soon since it looks like the rain stopped momentarily ...

Yeah it's raining cats and dogs outside. I remember that last crazy storm. DF's fence fell over and a tree fell down. So scary!!

I got a reprieve and didn't have to drive into the office today, thank goodness. The storm has calmed down quite a bit right now but earlier today, it was raining pretty hard and the trees were really swaying from the high wind gusts.
