Thumbs down Why do people not have curtains anymore?
Did curtains go out of style perhaps?

I notice that so much nowadays, even houses that are right on the street, right on the ground floor = no curtains. Walking home at night it is fascinating, I admit I definitly peek into a lot of homes. Of course you should have the right to have your windows uncovered without being treated like a goldfish bowl (with people like me sneeking a look inside) but on the other hand, I love my curtains, my privacy and I shudder to think people could see my every move at home.

We have curtains and roller blind that goes down on the outside of the window at night.

I admit I don't have curtains/blinds on my kitchen patio door. I just moved and tore down the old blinds and then found out those things are SO Expensive in the stores, so for now I'm without!

Weird! We have blinds. I rarely ever open up the blinds on my windows at the front of my house - I do not like for people to see into my home. Plus, I think it's also a safety issue - I don't need to advertise to a thief of what's inside my home. But yes, it is fascinating to peek into homes that have open curtains.

Really?? That's odd. I have curtains and blinds everywhere in my house. We usually leave the curtains tied to the sides but we have the blinds closed almost all the time. We open them during the day so we don't have to use the lights and electricity. I love curtains though!

Curtains are very important to me...I like to wander around naked freely in my house without worrying that someone can peek in and see me! LOL

I too find the lack of curtains on front windows, especially bedroom windows and clear bathroom windows, really weird. I can understand not having curtains in the kitchen or something, but in rooms where you walk around naked, I think curtains are a good idea.

At least in the kitchen a person has to wear an apron

That is odd. I have curtains, decorative privacy film (in the bathrooms) or venetian blinds up in every window.

I admit that we have a slider across the dining room and across our bedroom wall and we hardly ever close the horizontal blinds. That's because these areas go out to our pool area that is highly landscaped and you really can't see into these areas at all. But, otherwise, all our windows have blinds that are partially closed or closed.

When we moved in to our house...older house, so no excuse...half the windows didn't have any window coverings at all or rods, etc, including the living room which faces a fairly busy street...it was very strange. We put them up, right away.

My apartment has huge windows that came with blinds and I chose not to put curtains up when I moved in. I'm on the second floor and I face a bunch of trees that separate us from the golf course, so I'm on the edge of the complex and on a side where not many people park. I don't pull my blinds up, but I mostly leave them open because it means I never have to turn my lights on during the day and I prefer the natural light. Makes the apartment feel a lot bigger and airier.

I couldn't do that in my old apartment because we were on the ground floor and my bedroom window faced a busy part of the parking lot, and I really missed it after being on the 5th floor for three years prior. So when I rented this apartment, I chose this unit specifically so that I wouldn't have to put up curtains or keep my blinds shut.

I think curtains look kind of old fashioned in a lot of instances, but maybe it's just because I was used to the heavy, long kind that my parents always had when I was a kid. Even they've done away with them and had some custom plantation blinds installed about 5 years ago.

We have those bamboo wood blinds throughout our whole house. I can't imagine not having them for privacy. Especially because I also have some very nosy neighbors. Just weird.

LOL I don't understand people who sit in their living rooms in the evening with the curtains wide open or the blinds up allowing all and sundry to peer into their house! The same people start cursing when their house is robbed the following weekend!
