There's a house near me which has been fully festooned for a couple of weeks now... A bit too soon perhaps, but each to their own! When do your decorations go up? We do ours on the last Sunday in November - that's the longest I can wait, I just get too excited! My aunt puts hers up today (1 Nov), as soon as Halloween is out of the way.
How about you? And do you always leave them up until Twelfth Night? I do, and hate taking them down even then!

Thanksgiving weekend! Then I take them down the first week of Jan.
I saw some houses with xmas decorations up already too... I think pre-Halloween is a little early, but again, to each his own. |

I think Thanksgiving sounds like a wonderful holiday, a lovely opportunity to spend time with family and friends to eat and be merry before the craziness of Christmas kicks in! A lovely start to the festive period. Wish we had a holiday at a similar time here in the UK!
Just been for a wintry walk and saw two more houses with their decorations up! |

Usually put up the decorations the day after Thanksgiving, and take them down after January 1st. My birthday is on January 1st so after that it feels like the holidays are officially over for me.

This will be my 2nd Christmas with my fiance... last year we had a tiny sad-looking tree that went up soon after Thanksgiving -- possibly the weekend after. This year is yet to be determined. I hope that we start up some sort of ritual, though... something to define the start of the holidays and to add some festivity to our home. :)

Same here... Day after Thanksgiving and start taking things down after New Year's. This year will be a bit different though since I have no idea what's going on for Thanksgiving. We're taking the Halloween things down today and leaving up the pumpkins/leaves/gourds for Thanksgiving. |

I start decorating the day after Thanksgiving and take down all decorations the day of New Year's Eve. We keep with that tradition because my grandmother always believed that it was bad luck to start the new year with last year's decorations.

I will put my tree up the day of or after Thanksgiving, however I will begin decorating my exterior and interior with clear lights tonight after I take down all of the Halloween decorations. I have a two year old who is absolutely fascinated by all of the lights, and I have no problem prolonging the festive atmosphere. Like someone said, to each his/her own.

we always like to buy our tree at the end of the first week of december. gives us a good 3 weeks to feel like we got our money's worth for our tree, and without it being too long to annoy us. we have found in years past that when we buy our tree too early, it dries out too early and we would rather take it down after the new year.
for us, those are the only decorations we put up for christmas and then we have my hanukkah menorah, as well. |
