We decorate usually the weekend after Thanksgiving although we have waited a long as the first week of December to decorate. A lot depends on the weather. If it is pouring down rain, I'm not climbing on the roof to string up lights. I also have to wait for a weekend to do outdoor lights and decorations because DH and I have opposite shifts at work. I can do the ladder work because he is a little nervous about heights, but I prefer if he is there to move the big heavy ladder for me.
Inside decorations can happen whenever. I find that I usually put up my nutcrackers (I have dozens) during the week when I have time after work. The tree (fake and pre-lit) goes up on a weekend when DH and DS are around. Sometimes we will invite the step-daughters over for the tree decorating. Depending on their work and social schedules. |

I usually put up decorations the weekend after Thanksgiving, however dh will be out of town until that Sunday and all my stuff is in the attic. If I get ambitious enough, I might be able to get it down alone, otherwise, it will have to wait til the following weekend. We'd probably get our tree the following weekend anyway, so it will work out.
Wondering, does anyone use ONLY a small tree for Christmas? I usually buy a full size and we have a lot of presents to put under, but not only will my dd be gone to her fathers this Christmas, but we are only going to have 2-3 gifts anyway. Wondering if its even worth it to get a full tree. I love real ones, but can never find a tiny tree at tree farms, so I might have to go with a fake one. But, just wondering if anyone else only uses a small tree? Im thinking no higher than about 4 ft or so. |

Never. I, however, help my friend(s) decorate their place(s) just a week or less before Christmas.
When Halloween is over, it's either a bummer or nothing special to me to have the happy happy-joy joy holiday season come up. People even start talking about/advertising it in September and October, ruining the Halloween/autmum atmosphere a bit! |

I usually try to get mine up the weekend after thanksgiving, since it's a long weekend. but this year i feel like i want to do it NOW lol but i'll probably wait. my parents are coming next week for a visit and i think i'm going to have my dad help me put up some lights outside of my house.
I usually turn lights off after new years and then take stuff down whenever i get time. |

The weekend after Thanksgiving. That's way there's a bit of a gap between the Christmas decorations and Thanksgiving. May start this year at Dec 1st since we are so excited to decorate.

We will start very soon. Our Thanksgiving tradition is to turn all of our outside lights on that night. My DH puts lights all the way around the house and we decorate about 50 trees in our yard. We even decorate our pole barn. It is so much work and I know DH would be happy if we scaled back some, but I just love all the lights. It seems that fewer people decorate each year and I find that depressing.
I will have my 3 trees I put up inside done before Thanksgiving. Our decorations come down the day after Christmas. By that time we are done looking at them! |
