Default What did you do for the environment today?

Each of us can make our tiny contributions to save the environment. What did you do today for the environment?

When I took my shower today, I closed the water when I was shampooing my hair and lathering my body. I know it's not much, but it's a start and I saved some water!

Yesterday, I brought 3 washable nylon shopping bags when I went grocery shopping. Not only did I save money on the grocery bags (yeap, each bag costs around USD 30 cents here in Switzerland, so that's almost a buck on 3 grocery bags), I saved on trash!

^ It's always funny when I have to bring plastic bottles for recycling since I have to carry these big bags full of them. I just wish sometimes they have more recycling places for plastic bottles here so I don't have to go everytime to the grocery store to bring them.

I rode my bike (bicycle, not a motorcycle!) to school rather than taking my car

Great thread!

I took a shorter shower today. I always take forever, but I'm trying to cut back to save time and not waste water.

I always recycle, even the little tab off the milk carton. I have reusable bags from Publix. I always recycle.

You're too funny! Just imagine how much water we can save if we all don't shower for a day ... I wonder how strong all our stench will be lol!

I cleaned today for the first time using water and distilled white vinegar mixed 50/50. It is good for the environment and got my bathroom clean with no chemicals. I had to put more elbow grease into it though.

Today was a no TV day for us.

We also recently stopped buying San Pellegrino to drink as our "bottled water" and got a Berkey water filtration system for our home instead.

Recycled water/Gatorade bottles, as well as the newspaper.

I've been trying to drive in a more gas-efficient way and calculated that I got on average 36.7 mpg this week! Still had to fill up though. :(

I suggested to my friend that she buy the large bottle of OJ and decant to small reuseable bottles and buy reuseable shopping bags. (of which I used today)
