That's the one I'm reading...I began reading it after A Thousand Spledid Suns because I needed to read something more light-hearted after that one, and I began reading The Kite Runner before I finished. I figured I'd save Confessions of a Shopaholic for after I read the Khaled Hosseini books. His books are amazing, but they drew me in so much that I was actually having nightmares. So, a light-hearted book is great after these two.

I'm reading about five or six books at one time:
"Microtrends: The Small Forces Behind Tomorrow's Big Changes" by Mark Penn
"The Top Ten Mistakes Leaders Make" by Hans Finzel
"Life Is A Campaign: What Politics Has Taught Me About Friendship, Rivalry, Reputation, and Success" by Chris Matthews
"How Did I Get So Busy?" by Valorie Burton

I'm reading Silent in the Grave by Deanna Raybourn. it's the first in a new Victorian mystery series. I'm enjoying it so far. After I finish that, I'll read the sequel to Pillars of the Earth...World Without End.

I'm reading "getting over it" by anna maxted - it's witty - funny, but not too fluffy - "real life matters" - very good.

i just finished "water for elephants," about an elderly man's recollections of his early life in the circus. it's absolutely beautiful, both in its description of life in a nursing home and also about life in the circus. i highly recommend it.

I've finished Petals in the Wind (not recommended LOL) and am now rereading some short stories by Roald Dahl. I adore him!

So weird... I've got The God of Small Things byArundhati Roy (sp?) on my bedside table at the moment and I thought that what you meant! I really had to slow my brain down and read each word individually. Perhaps it's time I took a break LOL

Those who survived resorted to cannibalism to keep alive...and a select few actually HIKED over the treacherous Andes into Chile to find help. It is an astonishing story, and believe me if I ever think I'm having a stressful day I remember what I read in that book and it is very inspirational.

Next up: the Memory Keeper's Daughter, by Kim Edwards.
Pursegrrl, if you like Miracle in the Andes you might enjoy Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer. I never realised how difficult it is to survive in high altitudes even if one is in optimal health. Fascinating!

luvhaute, have you read the last one Nineteen Minutes??

Just finished it a couple of weeks ago and found it disappointing..and I'm a huge Picoult fan..while the language is very beautiful, I thought the plot and whole story line was weak..and that she sometimes creates a situation just to be able to use a certain analogy, if you know what I mean...

About to finish Once upon a time in Beirut by Catherine Taylor..loved it, gives a different perspective than the usual one we always get rammed down our throats..

And Paullina Simons, now there's a girl who can spin a yarn...
