I just finished reading "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold, I wasn't a big fan.

Before that book I read "The Guardian" by Nicholas Sparks, it was a great book. I would recommend it to anyone!

i have that on my shelf, been meaning to read it. as well as another nonfic, 'deadwood' by peter dexter, and 'devil in the white city' by erik larson.

and i've been looking for a really good book on the lincoln assassination. i'm thinking 'manhunt' by james l. swanson. but that seems to focus simply on the fugitive chase... any recommendations?

Finished "The Awakening" by Kate Chopin.

Anyone have opinions on this one? I'm not sure I LIKED or ever fully sympathized with the character, but I'm not sure you really were SUPPOSED to. It was completely gray in terms of this. Was this just me?

The writing itself was SUPER... very lyrical, awesome imagery without the weight of too much heavy archaic language that novels of this era sometimes have. The 'society' she lived in was also non-typical are there were interesting situations going on there that I wouldn't have thought people involved themselves in..

I'll second that. I finished it, but did not like it.
