if this happened to me i would be so traumatized. i would probably cry too. but then i would get angry and wish i said something nasty back. hey you earned it, it's your money, spend it the way you want to. she has no right to say anything like that to anyone. forget about that crazy woman and enhoy your luxury purchases.

Here is my big question... if she is so into saving the world and against high-end fashion, then how in the heck did she know the designer of your bag and know it was expensive?!?!?!!!!

Sounds like a case of jealousy to me.

But I would have been completely taken aback also and probably cried. Sorry that happend to you! So unjustified!

I can't believe that happened to you! What a piece of @(!&)# she is!!! But what goes around comes around. People like her need to have their tongues cut out! Don't let her outrageous behavior make you feel bad for one more second. She is DEFINITELY NOT WORTH IT. It takes some nerve to approach someone you don't know like that and go off on them. Since she feels that strongly perhaps she should go to a third world country and volunteer to help them out. I wish I would have been there. She would not have gotten away with that!

While I don't think she had the right to tell you off, I think you cried because it was true. I mean, considering all the things you could have bought/did with the money, it is a pretty shallow/vain thing to buy. People judge each other all the time. You just have to think about it and say do I care what people say/think or do I want to buy what I want? I hope I don't come off as uppity or anything. I'm not siding with her, I'm just stating my opinion. I probably feel this way because a lot of people have told me the same things, but I've come to terms with the fact that I'm just materialistic. hehe

That's the kind of incident that happens when you run into a mentally ill person (either that or someone raised with wolves) I would have been angry and upset too but you have to blow it off, life is too short - Take your Granddaughter back to Chuckie Cheese and have a pizza and play some games (I do that every week with mine) and have fun! - don't let a nut case ruin your day EVER!

Well SURE it''s true, but that doesn't give you the right to push your opinions in strangers' faces.

You could have easily said back to her, "So where are your 18 African Orphans, Angelina Jolie?"

I mean come on, people are so hypocritical. It's like anti-abortion activists who line up outside of clinics, telling people what they should be doing with their lives, and yet NONE of them actually will step up and say, "Hey, I will adopt your kid instead." Especially if they're black or Hispanic.
Everyone is a critic, no one has a solution.

I agree, this person is most likely mentally ill. I am a physical therapist and have run into mentally as well as physically ill people from time to time.
Don't worry about your bag. I work, by choice, in a poor area of Philly. A few people I know would never go down there. I do because I feel I am contributing in some way. However, I have nice things at home and live in a nice, safe neighborhood. There is no reason you should feel guilty about your bag. You are not hurting anyone by having it. We all have a right to things that make us happy in life.
Obviously, this crazy woman needs to be on medication. Unfortunatelly, sometimes the sickest patients never seek treatment.

Wow. That woman is disturbed, she had no right to talk to you like that. It's your money, you spend it on what you please. If she's such an activist why doesn't she speak to some celebrities or write to the government. Geez.

You should have told her that that is the bag you use to go to Chuck E Cheese, and that you save your really good bag for when you go to Red Lobster.

What is worse, A. spending your hard earned money on something you enjoy and appreciate... or... B. Living a life where you attempt to put people down with your cruel words.

The women was out of line, and it sucks that she had to ruin your day
