So the DD's and I decided early on this year that we wanted to scare the crap out of all the little kids in the neighborhood on Halloween

We had a decent yard last year - nothing over the top, but some cool stuff like some floating ghouls, a fog machine, graveyard and glowing potions, etc. It was our first go at it so it was pretty scattered, but not bad.

It was so much fun putting everything together that we're going bigger this year. We've got 2 more fog machines and we're in the process of building this stuff:

1. Laser Vortex
2. Floating Head "Hologram" Illusion
3. Flying Crank Ghost

Laser Vortex:
We already have the basic setups built for 3 separate laster vortex (what the heck is the plural of "vortex"??), I'm just waiting on the more powerful green lasers I ordered to come in to finish them off. They are amazing - three dimensional and large enough to actually walk in to!

Floating Head Illusion:
We're starting off small this year with a simple "floating head", similar to this:

But next year we aspire to THIS!

Flying Crank Ghost:
This one is NOT easy. Right now our dining room is buried in disassembled rotisserie parts, wire coat hangers, and cheesecloth - but we're almost done. We're building two of them, one each of the following:

I'm sure that we're being realllllly over ambitious, but hopefully we'll get most of it ready by halloween LOL

I'll post pics of our progress here as we go along...now we have to get it done!

Totally awesome! It's great that you take so much time to entertain (and scare!) other people. The ghost at the piano is so cool.

Ok, here are a few pics from our completed Halloween "yard haunt" - sorry I didn't post anything sooner, we have been busy busy busy.

We didn't get everything done that we wanted to, but we did get the flying crank ghost and laser vortex props finished. The pics don't do them justice - they were wayyyyy cooler IRL!

Next year will be better
