Default My dad was in Ann Arbor last weekend.
He helped found the Michigan Olde Blue Rugby Club and last weekend was its 50th anniversary celebration.

Today, my mom sent me a link to a video preview of a commemorative DVD of the events.

My dad is the guy in the gold and blue striped jersey at the beginning of the video. You can also see him 2:58 in.

He was playing touch rugby. Tackle rugby was also played, but my dad promised my mom and brother he wouldn't partake in that.

Please keep in mind: I got my dad's permission before I posted the video.

Haha! One of the events scheduled for Thursday night was an after party at a place called the Hooker's Club.

I remember asking my dad what exactly that meant.

Believe it or not, rugby is actually safer than football.

In football, because there's padding involved, people think they can smack into others that much harder. Problem is, a hard enough smack could cause internal injuries.

Granted the rugby injuries aren't pretty (broken noses and fat lips and such) but for the most part they're not that serious.

Wow, your Dad's still got skills. Haha. Impressive! Good to see he's still so dedicated 50 years on. You must be proud. =]

My bro and some people formed a rugby club at my high school years ago, and now it's gotten a lot bigger [including anyone from the area] and is being recognized heavily around the state. It's a cool sport; always been a fan of the shirts. Haha.
