Can't you just be happy for her?
In the end it's all stuff. Expensive stuff, cheap stuff, designer, high-end... And when you really think of it, it's all worth nothing. Don't judge friends on what they buy, how much they have to spend, or how they call it. It's not worth it.

You said it yourself, she's never had an interest in high-end fashion, designers whatsoever -- so, why do you think she'd want you to educate her?
I would just be happy for your friend, who splurged on something she likes now that she can afford it. Signed, One year away from being "old" |

I just cannot imagine why anyone would want to put someone down for a purchase they are proud of. Share her joy! If she is happy, let her be. There is NEVER a need to make ourselves feel better at the expense of someone else. It saddens me that anyone would even consider it.
Oh, and if 32 is old, I must be approaching mummified.

Be happy for your friend and don't judge. To each his own. |

Your friend is still learning about the fashion world. She isn't as "educated" about fashion as you are. And she hasn't had as much financial success w/ her previous jobs as you.
Enough has been said in this thread that I don't need to say anything more. |

yikes... i must be stupid then because I always considered Guess to be designer. I can't even afford anything there (except a few bracelets and necklaces I bought years ago that were on clearance)

"Expensive" is relative and different for everyone.
And the term designer means different things to different people...some people think Coach is designer, some people don't. What the heck does it matter? Don't place so much value into what your friends are buying/wearing....people shouldn't be defined by their material things. |

I agree, let it go. I don't think Guess is a high end designer, but the fact is they do have some things that are relatively expensive (100+ jeans, I've seen some upwards of $200 dresses over the years)-do you consider sevens, etc. as a designer brand of jeans? How is this any different?

She probably has other things she would rather spend more money on.
I don't spend a lot of money on clothes and consider Guess and even the GAP to be overpriced. Guess may not be "premier" designer, but it is designer. I do spend a bit on bags and fine jewelry. I spend on good food and experiences. |

I used to have a coworker who would talk to me bc i have expensive taste (1K bag and/or 300 dress...that range)......am i flatter? NO. i think she has issues...it's like if i don't have those things, i'd be not good enough to talk to her.
i want ppl to talk to me or even like me even when i am wearing an old navy....(no offense to old navy....i like o.n...but they are famous of inexpensive clothes..) |
