First, just don't bring it up and see if the Dad forgets all about it.

Second, as an English teacher myself, I know that spelling is only a tiny part of being a good teacher and writing instructor. If the kid is just learning to read, then I can not imagine that one silly error on his flashcards is going to ruin his future. It's more important that he has an attentive and fun tutor who holds his attention and interest. (ok, maybe I'm being a little defensive here since I can't spell worth bananas without the spell check...but I can still analyze metaphors and allusions and all of that other good stuff!).

If the Dad is a total jerk about it then I guess you'll have to try to find another kid to tutor...but if he really flips out then he is probably a pretty anal guy who was going to find something about which to complain regardless...so you're well rid of him.

Crystalina, have you spoken to the kid's dad since your last post? If so, what happened?

^^^LOL!! Yes, it's too bad you defended it so strongly, because you could have come back w/ "I just forgot to put the s on"...if you are making strides with this child in important areas and don't normally misspell words, I can't imagine they would fire you for this. It's definitely a "was my face red" moment, though! I would just do as others suggested, and apologize, and just say something funny and smile. Don't make a big deal about it...
