Okay...go to Zappos and put something in your cart, then look in your cart. Usually, no matter what I buy, there's an italicized red sentence saying "Only 1 left in your size!" As if to scream hurry hurry hurry and buy me!

Now is that a scam to pressure me into buying the item on impulse for fear it will be sold out, or do you think there's some truth to that sentence?

Because, damn it, it works.

I believe there is some truth to that.. since their inventory is so large, I don't think they carry a lot of each size per style shoe.

have you tried adding 2 of the same pair/same size to your cart after it says that?

It doesn't always say that...only if the items are super new - that happened with 2 pair Dansko I was buying and the style had only been out a few days.

smokehouse: you're probably buying stuff that has been newly added to the website.

it's not a scam, i've seen only 2 in this size left, etc. they carry so much stuff, that they don't keep a lot of each. but, quite often they do restock.

I Zappos. For a gal with size 12 feet, it's the best!
