Default How do you spend your weekends?
i did a search on this topic and nothing came up, so my apologies if this has been asked/posted before.

i ask this because it seems for us, every weekend, it's the same old, boring thing. here we live in a gorgeous state (colorado) and we rarely—if ever—take advantage of the outdoors or the majestic mountains, especially in the summer. i mean, going to the mountains is a few hours drive, but still breathtaking and worth every minute, nevertheless. and we're only a few minutes from the foothills and we never take a quick drive up the "hill."

my husband is born and raised here so i realize that he may take it for granted, but i have lived here for 19 years now and i am still in awe of its beauty every single day.

it seems that we just sit around watch tv, hang on the computer, or do whatever. aside from my daughter's saturday soccer games, what else do we do? nothing. i'm getting so bored with it. we do take occasional walks on a regular basis, but even that's getting old.

which brings me to the point of this thread.

do people on average, enjoy their weekends and do something different every weekend, or is their life in a rut like ours? either way, i'm curious—if at least to get some ideas—to see what you all do on your weekends.

does it vary? same old thing? do you travel? hang out with friends? go to a movie? please share.

thanks!

Use to go out to dinner parties with friends and go out traveling quite a bit untill we got two puggles. Today we just added a third :-). Now our weekends consist of haning out in the yard playing with the dogs going to pet events and doggie parks lol We really love having dogs and have no kids. We do get out to go to movies, shopping and dinner thats always nice for a change of pace. Our vacations consist of pet friendly places too.

Thats my boring life lol

I do the exact same thing every weekend. I work at a restaurant for extra money because I am trying to save and buy a house. And sometimes after work, I'll go out with friends to either a late movie or a bar to have a drink.

im currently wasting all my week-ends doing nothing because I just dont feel like going out anymore really... but I know its temporary, im still 20 (turning 21 next week) so I know its just a down and I need to go out more, but not bad, im turning 21 on the 29th, flying to New York on Oct 3rd, arrive, party and get out to New Hampshire as the Party bus continues around lol

But I usually go out at restaurant, movies or hang-out with some friends, listen to music, or simply relax!

Well I'm single and live by myself, so my weekends are structured a bit differently than they would be if I had a family to take into account.

Fridays are usually dinner and drinks - my BFF and I often cook together at my house or, if we're feeling wealthy, get a little dressed up and have a nice dinner out. After that, we do the whole hair-makeup-outfit routine and head out to a bar to meet up with our group of friends. When we get done, sometimes we have a late-night meal with a few of our guy friends.

Saturday usually starts at IHOP, and during this time of year, the rest of the day is taken up by college football. If it's a home game, we have an all-day tailgate on the campus at UGA followed by a walk downtown to watch the game in our favorite bar. If it's an away game, someone from our group hosts a viewing party and grills. Last night was my turn - I made hamburgers! If the game ends early enough, we had downtown for drinks afterward.

On Sunday, a friend and I might go to the mall or watch a DVD at my house (I have the biggest tv in my group of girlfriends, so I usually host things like that) or a movie at a theater. On Sunday evenings, I work.

My weekends are usually busy, busy, busy. Usually there's so much activity that sometimes I don't really feel like I *get* a weekend. I try to take a non-social weekend day at least once or twice a month to clean up around my apartment and decompress.

I'm sure all of this go go go stuff will change as I get older, but I'm in my early 20s right now and trying to enjoy the freedom of being single as much as I can while it lasts. I wouldn't change it for the world right now.

that's what we typically do, as well. we either go out on friday night or saturday night, and if our daughter has a sleepover, we try to do a date night or something, but most of the time, she comes with us.

you definitely should enjoy it while you can, because once you get married and have kids (if you choose to go this route), things will definitely change. i am 44 now and got married when i was 29 and had my daughter at 34, so at least i had my twenties to enjoy these times with my friends, and even before our daughter was born, we spent a lot of times with our friends as couples.

your weekends sound like how mine used to go when i was single or before our daughter was born. i definitely miss the occasional girls' night out and don't have them as often as i used to now that most of us have kids.

My weekends vary from doing things around the house to watching TV, napping. I live about 35 miles from the city and either I stay up at a relatives house on Friday or sometimes I venture out on a Saturday. Sometimes, I will go and watch my niece's soccer game like this Saturday. I really do not enjoy going to the movie theatre b/c I find the seats disgusting and cramped.

On weekends I run errands (grocery shopping etc), sleep late, catch up on blogs and hang out with friends.

It depends. I'm a homebody by nature, so I like to just relax with the dog, read, cook/bake, organize the house, etc. I run errands and always have a bit of yard work to do (live alone and weeknights are hard for that). For going out, I may meet a friend and go out to eat, shop, movies, etc. I also like to see my parents and brother at least twice a month, so I will go to their house or they come to mine. Now that the weather is turning cooler, I will probably starting hiking a bit on the weekends w/ a friend that likes to hike as well. It's really just the same stuff, over and over!

My husband and I are definitely homebodies - our weekends pretty much consist of whatever sport is in-season and a lot of cooking/baking/knitting/cleaning.

I always spend the weekends at my boyfriends place which I love-although for a long time we weren't going out at all, we would just sit around his house (he still lives with his parents too) but we talked about it, and now we've been going out a lot more. I don't see my friends much on the weekends because they seem to be busy with work/school-I usually end up seeing them during the week instead.

I'd love to go out more with my friends-but we live in the suburbs and there isn't much to do late at night (we always just end up going for bubble tea-we can't even go out drinking because taxis are way too expensive). I'm really looking forward to my DBF moving DT (hopefully very soon) so I'll be able to go out a lot more with my friends (since they'd be able to crash at his place).

Of course, now that school is back in session, my weekends are going to be filled with a lot more studying! My DBF and I have been trying to find a good cafe with free wifi (we love Starbucks, but the 2hrs free isn't enough for us) so we can get out of the house to work on weekends-ALWAYS more productive that way.
