I'm a homebody -- I love to read, bake, clean, etc. I like going to a movie, eating a meal at a fav restaurant, or wandering around a book shop. For some reason, I've gone on a lot of weekend trips this summer. I love those, but I love coming home and chilling out more!

We're pretty much homebodies here too... weekends ususally involve a lot grilling--- DH loves to grill (he grilled last Friday and last Sunday. Saturdays we try to run errands early in the day and then, like Amanda, this time of year it's all about college football. Home games we go tailgating and sometimes (like this last saturday) we go to the game, or, we'll go to a sports bar and watch it. If it's an away game, we usually have people over to watch it.
Sundays are usually lazier days... that's when I try to catch up on house work, etc. We often go out for coffee, go to the book store, or to the park when the weather isn' t too hot. My DH and DSS also like to go mountain biking on the weekends. I am ususally really tired come monday morning! |

I'm often working but if I have time off (mainly Sundays) I like to stay as home as much as possible. Reading, catching up on my DVR, napping. I usually plan to do something productive like laundry but it never happens.

I generally dont enjoy weekends anymore because I get bored way too easily. Dh and I used to go out every Saturday evening, it was our date night, but now that we are broke lol and trying to pay off bills, we dont have any spending money.
Saturday mornings are spent taking our dogs to the park, but other than that, we usually have nothing else planned now and I get bored. I hate to sit home and I hate to sit in front of the tv. Sundays are chore day with cleaning, lawn, grocery shopping, etc. so most of that day goes by pretty quick. Most of the stuff in our town that I can think of to do costs money, so I can never come up with anything else. I was also thinking of creating a thread here about what people do to occupy their time with no money, but I've seen those before and its always take walks, go to the library, visit the park, etc. and we do go to the park and take walks, but that can only take so long. Our libraries here are awful. I love reading these threads because I get to see Im not the only one sitting at home on weekends and I try to get ideas. Keep them coming, and if anyone has any suggestions about what you do in your area without spending money, please also share. |

This is an interesting thread!
My bf is only at our apartment about every third weekend, because his work schedule is really crazy right now (he travels for work.. boo). When he's not here, I stay at home for most of the day, usually doing work, reading books, or reading blogs. I like to go on hikes too. Evenings are usually spent with friends, going out to bars or other parties. When my bf is here, I do a lot more stuff. We usually clean a lot, run errands, cook dinners, go out to restaurants, movies, etc. A "cheap" thing we do a lot is go to the zoo. We buy memberships ($50 for the both of us every year), and go a few times a month. We also go to the public library and borrow movies for free instead of buying them or renting them. |

i also agree with you about taking walks, going to the park, etc. that gets old very quickly, unfortunately. and like you, we're on a tight budget now that i am currently unemployed (again). any good ideas for weekends that are either cheap or free, please, we need some help! |

I work saturdays til 6 and DH works just a couple hours in the morning, so Friday nights are either spent at home eating dinner and watching a movie, or sometimes going out to a quick dinner Saturday night depends on how tired we are from the work week, sometimes we will just stay home and be lazy around the house, or we will go out, shopping, dinner, things like that. Sundays we both have off, so food shopping, errands, cleaning.

We're pretty lazy people.
For the most part, our weekends consist of:-sleeping in -chores -eating out -reading -surfing the net -watching TV -cooking -seeing at least one friend (when eating out) -at least one meal with my family (they live less than 5min away) -shopping We travel together approximately every other month for personal vacation (no kids or pets to tie us down), and we also travel separately for work. I think that we travel enough that being a home together is still a treat. Also, we're both introverts, so there's no driving need for us to be out all the time. |

Go for it!One interesting thing that my retired mother does is volunteer for festivals (e.g. she helps set up tables at a wine tasting event) so that she can get free admission. It gives her something to do, and she gets to attend some normally expensive events for free. I think that she finds out about these things via the city's Chamber of Commerce. |

I spend most of the time home. I wake up go on TPF/Watch tv which is why I go to the gym fri/sun. I like to make sure I have a reason to leave the house! And at night I go out to dinner and have drinks with friends

I do laundry and clean every weekend, nap, and hang out with my S/O. Its usually pretty much the same thing with a slight change here and there. The only time I do something really different is when i've planned to take a day trip or been invited to some sort of event.

Very rarely do I have nothing to do on the weekends. I'm usually running errands, or hanging out with my SO, and friends. We always do something every Fri and Sat (movies, arcade, clubbing) Sundays are kinda my lazy days...I don't have much to do, but I always find something to keep me busy. I hate being bored....when all else fails, I lay in bed with my SO, and sleep, lol. Now that school has started back Sundays are spent studying.
