Default Housewarming Gifts.. Ideas please!

My BF and I got invited to his co-workers housewarming party this coming weekend. This is their first house and they are in their early 30's with a little baby girl who is almost 1 year old. Can anyone suggest an appropriate housewarming gift? My BF's budget is about $100-$150.

Thanks!

I'd just get a bed bath and beyond gift card to be 100% honest. You never know what others will bring and you don't know what they already have.

If you feel like a gift card is tacky, and you'd prefer to bring a gift, a nice set of knives (somehow, no one ever gets these, or, the knives they recieve are dull!) or, maybe a nice "Welcome" mat and a couple of other small things for around the house, like reed diffusers.

The last house warming party I went to, the couple had a wish list for bed bath and beyond. You might be better off asking your b/f to ask his co-worker if they're registered anywhere to purchase the items off the wish list. Just make sure to get a gift reciept, just in case!!

I suggest a plant...a big, huge, beautiful plant! You don't have to worry about their tastes, not matching room colors or themes, etc...good luck!!!

I also do agree...the gift card is completely a fine choice too! Again, you don't have to worry about not matching colors or themes...

I would probably do a gift card too if you don't know them all that well. But if you feel strange doing that, go for a plant.

Do they have a registry anywhere? If not just get them a gift card or an amex gift certificate. We had our housewarming in May and trust me the gift cards and money are the best. And every little bit is appreciated esp with a new home

Simon Pearce has some great glass items for around $100. The Bed, Bath and Beyond GC isn't a bad idea either. They can always chose what they need to match their taste.

Cachermire blanket? I don't know if you can get one for your budget, but it's my idea

A home repair book and a GC to home depot.

Once you're a home owner something is always breaking. It's great to have DIY home repair volume on hand.

I have done this a lot and it's always a hit :)

How about a six bottle wine rack with a good bottle of wine to start. If they don't drink wine, then they can put the rack in the bathroom and use it to store rolled hand towels, or they can put it in the dining area to store rolled placemats......

I think a Home Depot (or Lowe's) GC is a fabulous idea! There's always something that people decide to do with their new home - even when it's a brand new home! They can buy tools, plants, batteries, drywall, even light fixtures with it. Plus, most housewarming gifts seem to be targeted toward the woman and the kids - this one would make the man happy!

That's a really excellent idea! I was also going to suggest a houseplant, yankee candles, bottle of wine.

Is it just me, or is $100-150 a lot to spend on a housewarming gift for a co worker, unless the co worker is a super close friend or something? If everyone that's coming to the party spends that much, those people will make out like bandits! If it were me, I'd feel bad if anyone spent that much on a housewarming present for me.
