I'm usually not a pink person but I think that one is really cute! Don't worry about it being too childish. :P I also really like the set on the right in your second post. I think the one on the left looks a bit weird with the olive/green color.

Definitely get a foam mattress pad! It'll make your bed feel much softer!

Thanks guys! While I am determined to get the last set, I might just end up getting the 1st set since BB&B allows me to order online & pick it up at a local store when I'm finally there.

As for mattress pads, should I get those really THICK ones or a regular, thin one? I'm in a quadruple so we have bunk beds, if it matters.

What is the thread count? Don't let anybody sell you some fantastic thread count at a too good to be true price. Even if they swear and put all over the package that it is Egyptian, it is probably not.

And watch out for phrases like "Italian finish." Finishes wash off, which prevents you from noticing that the sheets are short staple stuff from NotEgypt until after you have washed and dried them and notice that no matter how many of those threads are in an inch, the fiber they started out with was hm, not what you would want to sleep on.

Some even look and feel like flannel after being washed!

You can get perfectly decent 340-50 thread count sheets of actual Egyptian cotton, without stupid finishes on them, that will last you for years and feel much better than 8000 thread count sheets of inferior fiber. Just go to Linens n' Things when they have a sale, and like white sheets, and you can get out with a full king sized set for under a hundred dollars, and have two more huge pillowcases to add to the stack and wonder what in the world to do with until you hear of someone getting married who is silly enough to have king sized pillows, and then you can impress the hell out of them with your thoughtful and sooo generous gift of two fine king sized white pillowcases.

I hate the t-shirt sheets - they always feel too hot to me! I like nice, cool sheets, so I get the lower thread-count sheets (250 or so, because it feels nice n' cool to me!) in neon colors - TJ Maxx is a great place to get high-quality sheets. I got Ralph Lauren in a lower thread-count.

I bought a feather bed from bed bath and beyond for a very reasonable price for 2 reasons 1st. because I have scoliosis and 2nd. because the mattresses were hard as rocks. Here is something similar to my feather bed http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/prod...4063927&RN=560
I love the white bedding. I suggest not getting a dark sheet because they show any type of stains or animal fur. I bought my sheets from in just the regular twin size and they have worked fine over the past 2 1/2 years. I did splurge and buy a down comforter because I love them and it made my bed so much more cozy. If you get your choice on the bunks I would def. choose the bottom bunk because my roommate in my apartment tried to bunk our beds and put me on top and it was miserable. Good luck with all your shopping, it can get stressful but it is an exciting time!

For me it is the opposite, I try to take unexpected naps on pillowcases with a bright/darkish colorful print, to camouflage any stray eye makeup malfunctions. But then we do not have any white fluffy animals. (Personally, I wish we did, but if we had the space (and cash for medical misfortune) to have pets, the walls would ring with the resounding of the Great Small White Fluffy Assortment vs Giant Pupdog Posse, we would end up getting both, rather, all, , and would just have to give up on fur-free bedding a s lifestyle element.)

Oh, and hair color. Demi-permanent does wash out which is a plus, but no matter HOW much you rinse, if you do happen to accidentally nod off while resting your eyes for a minute right after an anti-white skunk stripe operation, with hair still damp, white pillow cases will not handle the situation with the discretion we would all prefer, thus obliging you to go and get a clean pillowcase even if there is something really interesting on TV when you wake up, and you would rather just wallow around for a while and forget about the pillow case entirely...

I think if you want maximum amount of comfort, go with the thick...
But then again, if you end up on the top bunk and the thick mattress pad adds a good couple of inches and you're fairly tall you might end up bumping your head on the ceiling more then you'd like! Then again not all colleges are the same and mine might be the only one with fairly low ceilings

And good luck with a quad! I thought I had lots of company when I found out I had a junior triple (3 roomies, 2 closets )

I just moved into a dorm on tuesday and ordered bed etc. Here's my new flat for the next three years

It was recently renowated so I have a great kitchen.. built in oven etc. love it And those walls..

But there was this mix-up with the furniture shop so I got two of those slimmer mattress and didn't need to pay the full price for the bed eather! So I use the extra one as a carpet for awhile because it's so soft

This is how design trends get started. Just you watch. Pretty soon we will be reading in magazines about celebrities doing whole rooms with the things...

Ohh I know OP mentioned tapestries earlier...

Some colleges don't allow them because they catch on fire VERY VERY VERY easily because they're so thin. One girl at our school had one on the ceiling to give it some color and the thing literally exploded into flames. Now whenever we go to fire training programs they have a video of a representation of what happens in a fake dorm room that the fire dept. made up, and the tapestry sets on fire soo fast. I'm not sure about your school's policy, but keep that in mind!

Mine was around 1-2 inches thick and it was fine.

Thank you EVERYONE for all the help & tips! I am leaving in like 15 hours to college. I have not ordered any dorm items online -- I decided to screw it, I'm just not going to bother since housing stated they don't want us to receive large packages before our first day of classes. I'm just going to Target, Marshall's & BB&B. If they don't have it, they don't have it. Hopefully, they will... even though Boston is one of the most populous cities with college students...
