Caitlin, your story cracked me up, because I went to a tiny Catholic college my freshman year, and they used to tell almost the same ghost story... Supposedly a nun got pregnant by a priest and threw herself down the stairs in this building, and has haunted it ever since:
![]() I don't really believe in ghosts, but last I was watching tv and the closed captioning kept randomly coming on, reading "hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi" It was freaking me out so bad!!!!

these are really creepy!
during the summer i stay up later than the rest of the year because i take the summers off from work, and everynight at 1230 that i was home there was a knock on my door and i would look and no one was there. another day me and my mom were in the family room and we heard the cutlery drawer open then footsteps going up the stairs. i see a showdow figure out the corner of my eye at least once a week. sometimes i hear my dogs coller jingling and her nails on the wood floors. she dies 1 1/2 years ago. nd my last thing i can think of is once i fell down the stairs and i was on the ground at the bottom and i saw a bunch of people dancing in the living room, they were dressed ike they were from the 1800's. one thing that happened not to me but to my cousina t my grandparents house, after my grandpa died he was sleeping in the house and he went to the bathroom and he heard the water turn on in the kitchen and then the door open to the back porch and footsteps |

ok.. i am going to tell mine. its sorta long though.... maybe i will tell it in two parts.
Soooo back in August 2000. A Monday Night I woke up around 3am to find a blue light in my bedroom. The whole room was blue. and I said to myself.. am I dreaming.. no this is really happening.. what can this be... so I took note of it in my head.. and went back to sleep. Next day I told my friend Karen because... when ever things happen I always tell her so I have some sort of proof. (little things happen all the time to me.) so I could document it happening. anyway... fast forward to Wednesday. I went to see the play Saturday Night Fever on Broadway.. I go out into the lobby during intermission and have a vm from a guy I was sorta dating but he was being a jerk.. so I hadn't spoken to him in like a week. So I call him back.. and say Hey. First words out of his mouth... Chris Died!!! and I said.. what..? he says.. Chris Died...!! They found him today. And I start crying immediately... and I am like.. Noooo.. You are kidding. Nooo. And he says yes.. they say he died Monday Night. after 3am. Sooo the light I saw in my bedroom was.... A. me experiencing him crossing over.. or B. He came to say good-bye. Who is Chris you ask...? He was a guy I had sorta known.. but just started hanging out with that weekend. We hung out all day Sunday.. we played pool, we danced to EP's Can't help falling in love and I really started to fall for this guy. Wow... I was walkin around on Cloud 9 all day Monday.. thinking I met a nice new guy. He was going to Atlantic City on Monday..and begged me to take off work and go with him. I said I couldn't go. Well... The poor lad died that Monday night of a Brain Anuersim. I guess I was meant to meet him. He made an impression on me. and I somehow had some sort of connection that I experienced the time he died. there is more to this story... that happened within days of finding out.. which are interesting.. when I get a chance.. I guess I will do part 2 of my story. |

When i was a little girl, I would say in the second grade, we lived in Augsburg Germany at the time. Right after mt opa (grandfather) passed away, he come to our house and strange things would happen like an open window, or things would be moved around. Since I was the oldest of 3, I would get to stay up and "babysit" my younger brother and sister while my mother went to the other end of the apartment building to visit her best friend. She told me that once when she came home and she opened the door that I was curled up in the chair asleep and that she saw my grandfather (her father) laying on the couch asleep. She said that she closedthe door for a second and that when she opened the door again, he was gone.
He would also roam around in my aunt's apartment too. The story is that after he passed, my grandmother moved into another place from where they were living when he passed and he couldn't find her. So one night when he was in my aunt's roaming around, she got up and told him where my grandmother had moved to and from then on, he never roamed again. |

I don't have any personal ghost stories, but the city I live in removed many, many graveyards to another town so they could build on the land. The park I live near even has urns and recycled headstones incorporated into the some of the fences and buildings. I also read that not all of the bodies were removed and they dug up a few skeletons in 2001 while building near downtown. A couple of people that grew up here said they remember finding bones in the park when they were little. I don't think the apartment I'm in now is built on a graveyard, but my old apartment definitely was according to a map I've seen!

Our house now has a ghost and then the house I grew up in had an angry spirit. Not a fun childhood.

my fiancés old house was so weird the strangest things would happen in that house. I don't believe in ghosts because that just seems silly but very weird things did go on in that home. There was this one room in his house that he always kept shut off for the most part, sometimes we would leave the door open to it and it was a second bedroom in the home.Keep in mind he was the only person with a key to that home and he had that place so secure with multiple locks and various other security measures. Also he and I was the only people who was ever in that home, and I know I didn't do any of this stuff and I know he didn't either because generally we was together ALL the time.
-when you would go in that room it would smell kind of weird like some sort of flower, and I don't care what we did we could never ever get that smell out of there. We sprayed room spray, put up a freshmatic air thing that would shoot out a scent every five minutes and that room STILL smelt that way, the smell would override anything we tried to do to get it out of there - the lights would come on in that house, we would leave the house and turn off all the lights when we would get back various things would be turned on, a light, or a ceiling fan. - things would also be moved. He went outside to smoke one night and I went out with him for about five minutes we came back in and one of the kitchen chairs had been moved into that second bedroom. Also the next day I got to missing a pair of my flip flops I happened to go into the second bedroom and there sat my flip flops in the same place the chair had been set. - possibly the weirdest thing of all to happen in that house was when we was getting ready to move out my fiancé took the curtains down out of that bedroom I sat and watched him do it even watched him fold the curtains up and put them down in a bag in the kitchen, we had been busy that evening and hadn't had dinner yet so we went out and got us a bite to eat when we come back those curtains had been put right back up exactly the way they was before we had taken them down. they had even been nailed and pinned into the wall. I have to admit that one freaked me out. - it was summer time and the rest of the house was so hot (because me being the fresh air freak that I am had all the windows open in the rest of the house) and it was hot outside and when I happened to go into that bedroom for some reason or another I can't remember why. The room was freezing cold, and you could feel cold air blowing around your neck(that room was shut up not a window open or fan on)...which was weird because at the time we didn't have any air condition on in the house. - also clocks would randomly stop in that house or move. When we was getting ready to move my fiancé had taken one of the clocks off the wall and took the batteries out of it and laid the batteries on the table. It was roughly about 6:30(so thats what the clock was stopped on, it wasn't a digital clock) well he laid the clock to the side and we went outside for a bit to take a break when we come back in the batteries had been put back in the clock, well that freaked him out but he took the batteries back out and went on with things, it was roughly like 7, I happened to look at the clock later and the clocks time had been moved to 11:02. Than we had another clock incident his back up alarm clock had stopped working, so he had taken the batteries out of it and sat the clock back on our dresser well we noticed about every hour the time on it would change from what it was before (it was not a digital clock) we would look at it every so often and the clocks time and the hour hand and minute hand would move to a different time every few hours. - also my fiancé had tons of fire alarms in that house, we must have had six in the house. Anyway our alarms would go of different nights of the week at different times for no reason at all. One night the one in our bedroom went off every three hours right on the hour starting at exactly 3 am, did it 6am, than at 9am. Finally at 9am thats the last time it went off for the day. - he and I was in the shower one day and our back porch light switch is just outside the bathroom door and when the flip the switch it would make a loud noise when it switched on. He and I was in the shower one day(keep in mind it was afternoon) and all of a sudden we heard a noise that sounded like the light being turned on he and I looked at each other but brushed it off and so help me when we got out of the shower that light was switched on. |

Also in that same house he and I had slept late one day and when we got up we noticed nothing electrical in our bedroom worked, well we assumed the electric was off for some reason or another but when we got to looking around we realized in the living room we had had some electrical problems and a slight fire. the cord to his TV, stereo and a few other things had all melted together and caught fire(which we hadn't used any of those things for a week), which for some reason had put its self out....now at first we thought ok a fire and we was scared and felt blessed because we had survived. Well it was no innocent fire...when we started wiping the soot off the wall we was left with this image burnt into the wall. It looked like some sort of angel or demon that had someone captive with the number 1123 above the head of the angel or demon or whatever it was. Now get this heres another weird thing. The image was below a window. Ok the sheers on the bottom of the window was charred but at the top fine, the bottom of the blinds was fine but from the middle up the blinds was melted. Also the blinds was wet (where the wettness came from and what it was i'll never know, i assume water) Ok heres the weirder part of this story in that second bedroom which is right off the living room where it happened. The blinds was also melted in that room but the curtains was not touched the curtains was perfectly fine, and to beat it all there was no heat source in that room, no plug in around that blind or anything around it that would have caused it to melt, the the blind was completely ruined and had gotten so hot the blind stick was curved. I've always thought that was just beyond weird because those two things happened in two completely different rooms at the same times and one room with no heat source. When we had our wiring looked at we was told there was nothing wrong with it and there was nothing wrong with the plug in where the fire had occurred...it all happened out of the blue for no reason.

my dad and i are convinced our house is haunted by a little boy. we constantly hear what sounds like a ball bouncing, someone running around, etc in an area of the house that used to be the attic and is now sort of in between levels (its a split level).
and now for my own personal "visit". i do yoga, and one night i was in savasana and normally in savasana, i meditate deeply and think thoughts the whole time which wind up clearing my head, but when i come out of it, i dont remember what i thought about the whole time, i just remember that i was thinking. this time around i never went into that deep meditation. instead i got a visit from my grandpa who passed when i was 10. I was laying down and saw this smokey white cloud hovering over my body and heard someone sobbing when i felt my grandpa sitting next to me rubbing my head and twirling my hair. i even smelled him. now if u ask me what he smelled like i couldnt tell u, but in that moment i knew wat it was. i asked him who was crying. he told me thats your soul crying. i got concerned and asked questiond why my soul was sobbing?! he then told me its okay and thats what it has to do right now. dont be worried and just let it do wat has to be done. and just like that it was over. just thinking about it now gives me the chills, but in the moment it was so comforting. |

I just have to ask this because I'm curious, and nothing like this has ever happened to me (thank god!!), but friends and relatives certainly have stories. Those of you that have experienced "hauntings", have you ever considered that there is some other rational explanation for what's going on? For example, some of you mentioned seeing things after a loved one passes away. People experience a profound grief when that happens, and we don't really know what human psyche is capable of manufacturing to express grief. Like, maybe you are seeing these things because your mind simply wants to see them? Or do you feel strongly, with every fiber of your being, that what you saw or felt was real?
