I know what flash mobbing, no this is not it. This is like you are minding your own business while shopping and next you know you are surrounded by as many as 5-9 people you don't know who won't let you pass. And if you attempt to pass by they won't move even after you say "Excuse me, may I pass please." They will continue to stand there like they did not hear you. They make comments on the prices of the items you and others are buying, bring their kids and pets very near you, almost in your face! I have nothing against kids nor pets but I don't want them around me when I am shopping. You have to experience it to get a general idea what I am talking about.

Yes, I agree it is very creepy and most definitely pathetic.

I AGREE!!

If they put as much time into humanitarian services as is put into this foolishness we could cure world hunger.

No, I don't think from what I am told and what I witnessed it is random at all. I think it is all planned out. I believe these groups know each other. I have tried checking the internet and found nothing on it. Perhaps most people who experienced it was much like myself thought it was odd behavior but dismissed it as simple a bunch of oddballs in the store at once and went home and forgot about it.

From what I am told they don't hit stores like Express it is not considered high end. They show up in places like Gucci, Fendi, Prada and Coach. Saks, Neiman Marcus, Tiffanyand etc.

Bizarre.
Yes, bizarre indeed. I am told it is done to make people realize they need to return to frugality and place families first. I am told they observe what you are carrying around in the store and go check the price of the item (I don't know about this part but I do know they come stand near you and say things like "Anyone would be crazy to pay this much for such and such when you could feed a family for a month with this kind of money.") Personally, to me it these people need to get a life.

After being told about it from two store owners, I researched the internet and the closest thing I found that fits this behavior is something called "gang stalking" or "vigilant stalking" and this action in gang stalking is called "Street Theater." Other than that, I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else on the internet but if it continues there will be more reports on it.

I think it's all an elaborate shoplifting ploy.

Styleforever, thanks for informing us on this. I've never heard of it either (I've come across flash mobs before) and I'd be interested to know which cities are experiencing shop mobbing. It does sound like an absolute waste of time. Those poor salespeople & storeowners! It's tough enough to sell in this climate and now they're facing a new obstacle!

This was pretty much exactly what I thought. Maybe they think we spent too much and used up all the economy, like on that South Park episode, lol.

I haven't heard about this but I'll keep an eye out for it when I work.

But u do know that now whenever a group of ladies come in with strollers and screaming kids, I'm gonna think "they're shop mobbing us..get them outta here"

I've never heard of this. Maybe it isn't in Canada yet, or it's just in the larger cities.

There are more effective ways of making a point. This is creepy and pathetic.

Thankfully I've never experienced "shop mobbing" I never even knew this kind of thing existed. I think this tactic would work on me since I hate being uncomfortable in stores. If there's too many people or it's too loud I tend to leave....unless there is a really good sale going on of course!

These mobs sound awful, I hope I never experience one. I just don't have patience for people who do things like that!
