If so, did it work out? And where did you buy it?

Yes - I bought a memory foam mattress through Costco. It was great...especially knowing that if it didn't work out, I could return it! (Yes, it would be a hassle, but the option is still there....thank goodness it worked out!)

I've never done it but if I were I'd probably visit a store first, lay on a few, then search online to see if I can find one of the one's I got to try. Boy was that a run on sentence

Costco.com
I had absolutely no problems with them (and Costco has a great return policy) |

I guess I should clarify on my post a bit
![]() I went to Sears to try out some mattresses, but the store I was at had no Twin X-Long ones. I asked the salesman which models come in TXL, and he gave me a list. I tried all those out and then went online and bought it

My brother bought online online, didn't like it, and returned it. Then he ordered one from the W website (like the W hotels, they sell bedding) and he likes it a lot and got it for 40% off.

My parents have bought two mattresses from QVC before. They were both very nice when they came. My parents aren't too picky about mattresses so they didn't care about not testing them out first. I think you can get a much better deal online, but I wouldn't recommend buying one you've never tested in real life.

Ordered from Costco and it went fine. Just be sure to test out the mattress in person first!

I bought one online and it was a nightmare! I called before ordering to make sure they could deliver the day I moved into my new home and they promised they could.....you guessed it....didn't turn up!! I was left with no mattress and it didn't turn up until a week later when I'd bought another one. Then had to file a claim with the credit card company as the company I bought it from refused to refund as I had refused the delivery....

We bought a super-thick California king-sized memory foam mattress topper from Overstock.com. DH wanted a new mattress, tried out some pricey Tempurpedic mattresses at furniture stores and liked them. But somehow I convinced him to try a mattress topper first. That was a good idea, but...
This topper arrived jammed inside this teeny-tiny box. When I pulled it out it expanded to about 10X the size. It also came with a warning sheet about its flammability. The sheet practically described it as gasoline in the form of foam. I was not thrilled about putting this on our bed. DH liked it (somewhat) but I hated it. The topper was too hot and I kept sliding into the middle of the bed. Unfortunately Overstock had a restocking fee. And there was no way to get it back inside the box. And then we'd have had to pay for return shipping too. After about a year I convinced DH to get rid of the topper and we donated it to an animal shelter to cut into disposable dog beds. Bright spot: it was only $100 with shipping (MUCH cheaper than any topper we could have bought anywhere else), and after that DH was purged of his pressing need for a new mattress. But like Mooks says, before you order find out about return shipping in case you don't like the mattress. And re-stocking fees too. |
