I think it's a pretty crazy, f'ed up world where this woman is referred to as anything but gorgeous. It's no wonder so many of our young girls are starving themselves to death. So so sad.

Totally agree!! Its insane calling her fat! Its not just models being skinny that are bad role models, but the press calling normally proportioned girls fat is also sending out the wrong message, ending up with young girls having all kinds of eating disorders, because unfortunately people sometimes do belive what they read.

And was'nt it not too long ago that the press were up in arms about excessively skinny models in the Paris shows, saying they should be banned as they are bad role models??
Then they call a normal,curvy girl fat.Ridiculous.

I suppose I'm morbidly obese then. The press is so cruel. The press should just leave'em be. she's beautiful.

I just thought it was going to be a joke/cartoon or something.

Also, the "can" in my first post was suppose to be a "can't".

^ I understand, and I'm sorry for the sarcastic tone of my previous post. I just think views on weight are so messed up nowadays, it is hard to hear someone referring to a person (even a cartoon) as an elephant, or any other like term.

Geez!! No wonder many girls/women nowadays have issues with their weight. She is NOT fat; she's normal and healthy and I can't help but wonder they would call me.

Don't wonder, it would be something ridiculously untrue anyway. The press is so cruel and they exaggerate everything.

I'm so sick of people blaming the media or models for women and girls having eating disorders. MAYBE if those females out there accepted themselves for who they are.. maybe that would cut down on some off the obsessiveness. No one said to compare yourself to a model or a celeb. They depend on looks for their paychecks.. the majority of other women don't. If you think you are fat lose weight.. if you are happy with yourself stop listening to what others have to say about you.

I totally see what you are saying here. But really, one can't deny the impact the media/fashion industry has on women, when all you have to do is open ANY magazine and see that extremely thin is considered fashionable, beautiful, and desired, while "fat" (a.k.a normal) is definitely not. When is the last time a normal sized model was featured in any major magazine? I don't think the media/fashion industry/models are necessarily to BLAME for the problem of eating disorders, but it most certainly doesn't help.

Why don't you think the media is the cause of so many eating disorders? Maybe you're right, it isn't the cause for ALL eating disorders..however it IS for many. The media stresses that being skinny is beautiful and young girls (again, SOME, not all) look up to some of these skinny models, celebrities, etc. in magazines, on MTV, everywhere. It's gotten to the point where some countries BANNED their models from being under a certain BMI just because girls and even some guys were having difficulties because of the stick thin models. It DOES have an effect. Maybe not on YOU, but trust me, the media should be put to blame for many eating disorder cases. You're right, no one said compare yourself to a model or a celeb, but you don't need to tell someone to look up to another. Girls can choose to compare themselves to a model if they want, and sometimes sadly they do. I know what you are trying to say and please don't think that I'm trying to argue with you, I just want to speak for all the girls out there who are having this problem. They wouldn't even have the option of comparing themselves to stick then women if there weren't any in the first place. Whoever started this fashion of being stick thin and labeling it beautiful was seriously confused IMO. Sorry in advance, I think my tone might be rude..I had no intention of sounding mean or anything.

Btw, my rant is because I have always been interested in eating disorders. (the cause, psychological/physical factors, etc.) I've studied it and done many projects on it for school and it's just a topic close to my heart I guess.

I think that picture is bad because (1) it's at an unflattering angle and (2) the bathing suit bottoms do nothing to enhance what she's got. Otherwise I think she looks great and like someone said before, stick her on a boardwalk and all the men would be staring at her.
