Default Dogs in handbag store.
I won't name the designer but, I was in a store that sells high end designer handbags this week and some guys brought two dogs in the store. Yes, real live dogs. They were not dogs for the blind or handicapped.

All I could do was stare! I have been in this store many times and I have never seen pets of any kind in there. No, it was not an authorized retailer but the designer store itself.

Other customers beside me was staring at the clerks as they kneel down to pet the dogs, I understood one of the guys were one of the clerks boyfriend or something. Customers started veering toward the clerks who were not petting the dogs to checkout their bags.

I am a dog lover and I sell bags but my dogs aren't anywhere near my store, nor the room I store the bags in. The dogs were very cute and all but supposed they had release themselves in there? I love my dogs but I leave them home when I go shopping because I figure other people don't want to be around them just because I love them.

it is very common here in nyc. people bring their dogs into the marc jacobs boutique. i see one every time i go. dogs are allowed in bloomingdale's, bergdorf, barneys, many small boutiques, and even bars. hopefully, the owners know not to bring an untrained, ill behaved dog into a public indoor environment. however, i've never encountered any problem pets. i like it.

that being said, i would never bring my dog shopping with me. she gets spooked when there are a lot of people around. she doesn't enjoy it, so it would be hassle for the both of us.

Unless one of them pooped right inside one of the hadbags I was looking at, it wouldn't bother me. Now, dogs in restaurants.......that bothers me.

Here in Chicago, you can't bring your pets in the stores. They don't care what kind it is? Bloomington, Herme, Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Fendi, Prada, Chanel, Bergdorf Goodamn, Neiman Marcus, Barney's are all here but they don't allow pets, and most definitely not at social bars where food and drinks are served, it is a no-no. The health department here will shut your business down if you brought them in and they aren't trained for handicap usage.

Some days if it is really hot you may can bring them in the front entrance to keep cool but you have to stay with them no matter how trained they are. You can't take them among the merchandise. The clerks will tell you if you bring them in "other people may not want to be around your dog nor want your dog's scent on what they intent to buy."

I do think it is only polite and considerate of others to leave pets at home if you intend to shop.

Mine's they don't get spooked they are well behave, they like to go everywhere I go but here unfortunately you can't take them unless you want to be asked politely to leave too. Now when we goes to the pet store that is their store, they know they are always going to get some kind of treat. I keep them away from the customers because I have no way of knowing who is a dog lover and who is not. And here they will close your shop if animals are caught in them and you aren't running a pet store.

Which Prada you visit around here? I runs a boutique and that is one of the things they mention when applying that is not allowed. So hopefully they doesn't get caught.

The one on Oak St.
I have seen dogs in there many times, once a lady even had her poodle in the dressing room
I thought it was strange but it never bothered me, they are always on a leash, in a carrier or so tiny someone is holding them.

What Prada location do you visit around here? I have been to the one downtown and on the West side and I have never seen any pets whatsoever there that is why I was surprised to see one in this particular store. I hope the one you viist doesn't get caught because that is one of the things when applying for a business license they stress you can not do, saying the reason being is that all clothing and accessories must be kept in sanitized condition. I run a boutique and if someone from the health department who also visit clothing store too, although most people don't know that. Catch an animal in there they can write you a citation and fine you. Three violations can get your store shut down.

it bothers me. . . I'll tell you why. I happen to be married to a VERY dog-phobic man and it completely changes his mood and demeanor when we shop or eat and there's a dog of any size there. I wouldn't have thought of it otherwise if he wasn't this way, but because he is I get it.

Personally it doesn't bother me either, as I long as the dog is well-trained but I just had never seen it done here. Apparently I wasn't the only customers, for someone went and got the manager and he asked the young men to take the dogs out the store. Yes, I have been to the one at 30 E Oak St, Chicago, but haven't been in a while but I've never seen an animal in there.

This is why I don't allow dogs in my shop. I don't know who it will bother and who it won't. I haven't lost any customers that I know of by not allowing them in the shop. There is a pet sitter store 2 doors down, so customers can leave them in there while they shop.

I am terribly allergic to dogs and will not patronize stores where dogs are allowed. It used to be standard that only service dogs were allowed in stores; what happened?
