i used to live in Los Angeles, and every single boutique on Rodeo Drive I ever went in allowed dogs inside. Makes sense, a lot of Rodeo shoppers bring their dogs along. I would see people bring in their poodles/chis/what not all the time. 90% of the time they would be small, very well-groomed dogs in an LV carrier or on a stroller (it's LA, after all! ). I never saw an SA or a customer complain about someone bringing their dog in, nor did i ever see a dog acting crazy/loud inside a store. Anyway, i personally believe that a store tends to decide their policy based on the typical customer they are trying to attract, and the type of environment they are looking for. I think if a lot of the boutiques in Bev Hills disallowed dogs, they would lose a lot more business than they would gain. |

![]() Like I don't get why some people need to go to boutique shopping right after they just ran 10 miles and have sweat dripping down their arms (why don't they go and shower & change first?) I don't get why some women wear those hideous "Goach" knockoff bags (why not get a real thing for a few bucks more at a Coach outlet?). There a million things that I've continuously see other shoppers do that don't personally make sense to me, but who am I to try to regulate their behavior in a store, just because I do not understand it, KWIM? Anyway, i just figure some dog owners treat their dogs as their own kids and/or like taking them everywhere they go and do not like leaving them home alone. Others (i know of a few) have dogs who have become old or disabled (blind, have trouble walking, etc) and thus prefer to carry their dogs in a stroller for that reason. And actually, I think in any case keeping dogs in a stroller or carrier while in a store is probably better for everyone (e.g sanitary-wise) as that way the dog can't leave hair (or anything else!) on the floor... |

Dogs in strollers make me giggle. They just do. Seeing their little faces peering through the mesh zip-around thingy kills me.

Before anyone writes me off as a total b*tch (pun not intended), I regularly go on walks with a great friend of mine...and her adorable Pug. Who is just that, adorable, and well trained, groomed and behaved. He's totally stolen my heart.
Meanwhile, my friend wouldn't DREAM of hauling him around on all her day to day errands, much less in a bag of hers. |

I adore animals of all kinds, and personally dogs in a store don't bother me. However, there are some people who are allergic and cannot be around them for health reasons. Unattended animals could also be a problem for the retailer or other customers. Also, while many dogs are well-behaved, some might be nervous around other people and might react accordingly.
I think as much as I love my animals, I would just keep them at home. They're happier there & I'd worry about them in the store much more than I would at them at home. |

I think someone up above nailed it correctly....we dont always understand why some people do what they do, and you know what? Those people dont have to explain to us why they do what they do. To each his own. Dogs are here to stay, there are plenty of stores that permit dogs and you either accept it as their own right to do what they want with their dogs and the stores policy to permit it, or move on.
I'm so tired of the bickering between dog owners and non-dog owners. It gets really old, neither side is going to change the others minds, so why keep up the arguement!?!?
