I wouldn't do it, as my pup sheds quite a bit and, um, likes to pee on things...he's a pain at Petsmart! Marks everything even though he's neutered if I'm not paying attention! He likes to bark when he's bored too. If I saw a dog at a store, I would probably ooh and ahh over it, I wouldn't mind it at all. We see therapy dogs here at the hospital and I'm all over those guys :) You'd think, if a dog could be in a hospital, and these are therapy dogs, not service dogs, why not a store?

Dogs do not belong in stores (except helper-dogs), period.

I think I've seen a dog in one of the designer stores on Michigan Ave. once. And yes, all I did was stare. It was strange because a designer specialist was petting the dog and turned around got back up and started handling the handbags again. I am not a dog hater, but some people may think that's unsanitary. And if I was spending over 1K on a handbag, I don’t think I would want an animal near my handbags. That’s just my opinion.

My car broke down in the dead of winter in Utah and I used to have a ferret back then, I tried to sneak him into a gas station that had a bench inside and they caught me and kicked me out. I just wanted to be warm. lol
I live in Las Vegas now, I hardly ever see dogs entering stores but I have seen it before, it's rare here.

I'll take a well behaved dog over an unruly child any day!

I'll also take some fur over the choking scent of someone drowning in vile perfume.

AMEN! I'd also take the smell of a dog over a kid's dirty diaper! But not starting another dogs vs. kid post. Just agreeing.

I wouldn't be surprised to see dogs at Coach, Gucci or Louis vuitton. they sell dogs accessories after all.

I've seen dogs in Chanel, LV, Neiman Marcus, & Holt Renfrew. Doesn't bother me personally, but I can definitely see how it would affect some people. They've all been small and well-behaved though, maybe if they were bigger and disobedient it might change my mind

I personally think some dogs are cleaner and better behaved than children
if dogs are well trained and behave then I'd take them in a store over unruly kids. Once a lady started changing her baby's diapers right behind our seats ON A PLANE because it was too bothersome to get up and go to the bathroom. She was really self righteous about it too when I gave her an annoyed look.

and yes it was on a plane in flight so we couldn't even avoid the stench!

Default dogs everywhere
I think dogs should be allowed everywhere. Having said that -- my dog is NOT well behaved, therefore, I don't take him anywhere but for a walk, not even the dog park. Screaming kids, running around a store bothers me more than any dog ever would.

One of my good friends is exactly the same way... she has an extreme phobia of dogs. She will not even go near any of them, and it freaks her out when there is one within a few feet away from her.

Personally, it doesn't bother me... but I can see other issues with having dogs/pets in stores, such as allergies. My nephew is allergic to cats and dogs, and I'd like to be able to take him shopping without having to worry that.

It really doesn't bother me all that much, however, I've just never seen the reason for it. I mean, I love dogs as just as much as the next person (I have 3 in fact), but I've never seen the point in bringing them with me to the store...and that includes PetSmart.

i love dogs, but i wouldn't take our dog to a store even if he were the greatest dog on earth. even though other people bringing their dogs doesn't bother me, me bringing a dog may bother them, and i just don't see a reason to bring a dog (no matter how tiny it is) to a store that isn't a pet store. i would rather pay to have a doggy sitter.

the only places i've ever brought our pom was to the bank for a meeting but asked in advance and of course to pet stores. if brought into a store, the dog should definitely be carefully looked after, and the same goes for children. it bothers me how many parents let their kids run wild, and i can only imagine they'd be the same way with a pet...

i only bring our dog to petsmart with me because i want him to meet other dogs. our neighbors do not let their dogs out often enough, so reggie doesn't get to socialize very much with them. it certainly isn't easy to bring him to the store though because he won't sit still in the car and won't walk nicely on a leash in the store because he smells so many different things. i bear with it though for his own benefit and keep him under control so he doesn't bother anyone. it boggles my mind why people bring unfriendly pets into the pet store though. i've had so many dog owners warn me that their dog is mean...
