I see it a lot in NY luxury stores and departments stores...also see it in Short Hills mall. C'mon they won't reject these rich women from entering their store with their little dogs...they want their money

Customers here would freak out if a dog tail was wagged against their legs. So perhaps that is why that can be done in NYC and not here. I was in the Dolce and Gabbana in NYC on Madison Ave about 2 years ago and I saw no dog in the store there, I saw them walking the streets with their owners but they did not bring them in the store. I went to Tiffany from there and still no dogs. So I guess I was there on a no-dog day.

Here, oh yes they do, unless you are in a closed private shopping situation. But if you are among the general public they don't care how much money you have___you have to go and take your doggie with you. Because if someone complains it can get your store fined and Chicago doesn't level meek fines.

Here it still is, and if you were to check that's county license departments in most places it is still the standard but some just break the rule and hoping they don't get caught. Here they don't view this any different from smoking in a store, you can't smoke in a store here so they don't allow pets either. I am an animal lover but I know there are some people allergic to them. |

I don't mind dogs in stores, or even outside restaurants for that matter.
I'm so busy with work that when I do have time to go shopping I want to bring my dogs because I feel like I'm neglecting them! I personally think some dogs are cleaner and better behaved than children...but I guess that's a post for different thread

What I find ironic is when I used to shop on Ebay a lot, I would see hundreds of listing where the sellers were strongly emphasizing their handbags came from a "pet free" home. And saw several feedback left where the buyer said the bags did not come from a pet free home and had left negative feedback but yet perhaps with many of these same buyers it is okay to buy from a high end designer store who let pets in near the bags because pets are the latest fashion accessory but not from an individual seller who owns a pet, they acted in the feedback as thus having a pet, was one of the cardinal's sin?! It still an animal, if it stunk at the seller's home it is going stink in the store. There will be no difference. LOL~~

A dog is only as clean as the owner keeps them. I don't let mines near the trash can or toilet. I agree 100% about dogs are sometimes being better behaved than many kids. I hate it when parents let their kids run wild in a store or act up in a restaurant. I am a mom and if I can make mines sit down and be quiet why can't other parents do the same. It is not cute with little Billy or little Susan acting like they live in a barn out in public.

I am guilty. I take my dog with me just about everywhere (including work). They are VERY known on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. It was funny a few days ago, I was in a mall, about an hour away and went into a store and the SA says to me "OMG when did you get a 2nd dog" I looked at him like how the heck did you know, since this is the first time I have ever been to this mall. He said he used to work at Gucci in Beverly Hills and would see me all the time. He went onto tell his coworker how my dog is the best behaved dog he has ever seen. When I take them shopping I put them in a stroller. They just curl up and lay there and never make any noise. By being in the stroller no one has to worry about tripping over them and the store owners do not have to worry about them having an accident (which they never have)

when I worked at Nordstroms it was allowed. But there was a lady who would sneak her dog into the cafe and eat with her there... my manager had to ask her to leave. I couldn't believe that - she wasn't disabled or needed the dog to assist her, either.

I was in Toronto in 07 on Bloor and it was the first time Id ever seen someone take their dog into Gucci. It didnt bother me since Im a huge dog lover but this dog was a full sized Great Dane. He was well behaved but the size of a small horse

LOL, Just joking.Seriously though I love my dogs and they are well groomed and very well behaved but I would never presume to take them shopping with me. I just think it's rude. As much as I love all animals I can understand that not everyone shares my enthusiasm and that retail stores are no place for pets, small or otherwise. I think it just shows a sense of entitlement people have now days with a "well my dog is no ordinary dog, he's special" or "I'll be spending enough money so the rules don't apply to me". My dogs are just as special as the ones getting a trip to LV, Prada, wherever but as a common courtesy to others I prefer to keep them out of department stores, boutiques and any other place like that. |
