Default Bridal shower ideas
Hi everybody,

My co-worker who also happens to be a close friend is getting married in a couple of months and I was thinking that I should probably organize something along the lines of a bridal shower for her at work.

Unfortunately, I have no idea what this would entail!

We work in a pretty small office of about a dozen people and I'm pretty sure our co-workers would be up for this.

Do we do a potluck? Buy a cake? Play some games?

Any input is appreciated! TIA!

In the offices I have worked in, we usually just did an afternoon surprise shower. We usually sent around a sign up sheet, so we didn't have too many people bringing the same thing. We circulated a card, so people could discreetly give whatever they felt comfortable contributing. Then we used that money to buy a few things off the registry. We didn't play games, but just had a nice get-together.

We had afternoon surprise showers too. In the office I worked in we did a really nice cake, some flowers, and a card with money or a gift card to a store they are registered at. They did it for me when I got married and I was so touched. We did not play any games, but it was nice to have a long break with cake during the workday. I like your potluck idea, then it could be a lunch.

I would just plan a lunch bridal shower at work (at long as it's ok with the boss!) do a potluck, everyone can bring something. For this environment i don't think games are necessary. Just have a nice lunch and have some gifts for her to open and I bet it will be wonderful :)

I just had my 2nd, and, as far as I know, final wedding shower, last night.

Our first one was a small cake only shower with games. It was decorated along the same color scheme as the wedding, in December.

Our second one was last night and it had finger foods (but everyone brought along the recipie to their finger food), no games, and was decorated with a fall theme.

For a shower at work I would say definitely have it as a surprise, don't go crazy with decorations, if your planning to do it at the office, just some flower arrangements and maybe a balloon or two. As far as gifts go, I like the idea aklein had.

My coworkers organized a "department pot luck" for next week... I'm fairly certain that is a shower for me There have just been too many hints that they have given away for me to think otherwise! I think a pot luck is a great idea--everyone can contribute some food and then kick back and relax and try all sorts of different goodies. I don't know about playing games as I don't think the people in my office would really be into that, but it depends on the crowd.

Thank you for the input, everybody!

I think I will circulate an e-mail, proposing we do a potluck lunch and ask how people feel giving some money as well (for cake, maybe some balloons etc.) They are not registered anywhere so I'm not sure what to get as a "main" gift.

I don't know what I was thinking when I said we could play games... my co-workers would definitely NOT be into this stuff
