New Orleans does not have curbside recycling, so I filter my tapwater with a Brita filter. I have a nalgene bottle that I use.
Many houses in this city still have lead pipes, so it does need to be filtered before drinking.

Tap, for both environmental & financial reasons -- but mostly environmental. However, IMO my city has decent-to-good tasting tap water (depending on the season), so it's not like I'm drinking something that tastes bad.

DH loves sparkling water, so I bought him a carbonator. It's extremely cost effective and he can make his own carbonated drinks to his tastes.

Also, if you read the labels, some of the bottled waters come from the same sources as some tap water. What a waste!

Just a friendly reminder from your resident environmentalist: make sure to reuse and recycle those plastic and glass bottles. Each day more than 30 MILLION plastic bottles end up in landfills.

I understand health concerns, but check your local municipality for information. Many of you (Americans) will be surprised to learn that your municipal water source is HIGHER quality than bottled water and that simple water filtering will make your water taste as good as bottled water.

*End Rant*

My fridge dispenses filtered water, and we drink that... however it's not really cheap considering the filter itself cost 50 bucks... I could probably buy bottled water at sam's club for just as cheap

Filtered water (though if my Brita is empty, I'll drink tap ), primarily for environmental reasons. I do sometimes buy flavored bottled water, though.

I drink tap water, but I am blessed to be living in a mountainous region with lots of springs and rivers, so the quality of the water is very good. In fact I cannot imagine living in a place where I couldn't drink tap water.

I drink only bottled water at home, but I'll use the Brita for cooking or if I'm making tea. I do recycle all of the plastic bottles...I figure I'll do what I can to try and help the environment. Not only that, but you get charged CRV whether you recycle or not, so I might as well get a few dollars back :)

It's not just the landfills that is the problem. All the materials and energy used to make and transport is outrageous, plus the chemicals.

we drink both. bottled if we have it, and tap when we don't. recycling is ridiculously easy here in canada though.

I'm looking at you Dasani! I'm going to look into getting a carbonator.

Word! I was surprised myself when I took an environmental health class and learned how healthy tap water is in the US. I worry filter mine because I live in an old house with lead pipes.
