Hi everyone. I was wondering what the best scented candles were. I bought some at CVS and although they smelled great...once I lit them the house smelled the same. I love when Fall comes along and winter how some people have that great smell in their home. Apple spice, pumpkins, vanilla. It adds such a homey feel. Can anyone give me advice on what the best candles are.

I have always like candles from Crabtree and Evelyn (especially the fragrances they have for fall/ winter) they can get a bit expensive, range from $15- $80, but they burn really well--all the way to the bottom--and definitely will give your house a nice fragrance. There is also a candle line Voluspa that is nice also and not as expensive. I am pretty sure they have a website and Anthropologie also carries their candles. The fragrances aren't like pumpkin or apple, etc but they do a nice job giving your place a fallish feel

I'm not a Bath & Body Works fan but they have Slatkin candles and they're the best!
Look for the cinnamon or fireside ones now, in the winter they have more to choose form. Also get the house plug ins - Wallflowers |

I don't use candles, but I love the smells of the ones from Yankee Candle Company.
They always have the best Halloween and Christmas collections: http://www.yankeecandle.com/cgi-bin/...een+Collection To me, there's nothing wrong with vanilla candles. I just tend to equate them to Bible study and wouldn't want to light one in my apartment. I used to go to CCD (essentially Sunday school) and at the end, the teacher would light a candle and we'd pray. The candle was always vanilla. |

Pls don't shoot the messenger but scented candles and scented air fragrance cause cancer.
Honest. I like to put a drop of vanilla on a light bulb then turn it on. If you get true essential oil from a soap materials supply company or herb shop, that is safe, too. I like to use rose essential oil on the light bulb in spring and summer. |

I have in the past simmered cloves in a pot on the stove and this makes my whole house smell wonderful.

You should try burning scented oils with an oil burner. I've bought a lot of candles over the years and none of the scents linger enough for me, they're not strong enough, or they smell too artificial. I don't have any of those problems with using an oil burner and they come in really interesting designs and I have a variety of scents stashed away without taking up a lot of space.
I have this burner. http://www.bathandbodyworks.com/prod...488773.2186950 The Body Shop has the best fragrance oils. http://www.thebodyshop-usa.com/home-...Fragrance_Oils If you're only interested in candles, my experience has been that Illuminations candles are the best and least artificial smelling. |

I love the yellow cupcake candles that they sell at Bed Bath & Beyond. I don't remember the brand and I know that's not a fall smell -but everybody loves cupcakes.
