I have never had a single kid ring my door bell in over 20 years. I live in West Hollywood and there is a HUGE street festival . They close Santa Monica Blvd all the way to Beverly Hills. It is amazing. There are about 500,000 people.

I don't live in a small street at all, but it doesn't help that everyone's gates are closed. Therefor, unless I count myself, we get none. I know my aunt who lives in a very open street with a couple of kids, gets a few trick-or-treaters.

We used to get more, but I live on a cul de sac and our house is near the end. Before the neighbours ALL used to have their lights on and it would draw kids in, but now a lot of the new families don't bother-and our house is too far near the end for kids to want to wander down.
We get a few kids from the neighbourhood, it's nice to see them growing up every year :) But we don't usually get more than 10 |

we fill a huge caldron with candy and leave it out with a note for kids to help themselves. so none actually ring the bell.
we do this, because we go trick or treating with our own kids, and therefore are not home during the peak time, and after that, the bell bothers my dog, so it's worked out. we refill the caldron maybe once. and surprisingly they don't abuse it and grab it all, i've looked and even the teens just take a few pieces. i guess we live in a polite neighborhood LOL plus my husband uses zip ties to tie it down so they can't take the entire bowl. LOL |

I moved into my current house in May 2008 so I've only experienced one Halloween there. Last year I'd say we had maybe 50 kids. I live in a big neighborhood, but the problem is with the housing market, a good chunk of those houses are empty! We currently have no neighbors on either side of us and the 3 houses directly across the street are empty too! I would bet we would have even less than that this year, but I won't be around to find out!

Previously, we would get about 20-30 kids, but I've put a stop to it this year after the behavior of the neighbors last year, so we wont be doing candy anymore and will be heading out to parties or dinner on Halloween night from now on. My dd doesnt trick or treat any longer and being that we dont get along with some of the people in our neighborhood that do have the kids, I wont be participating.

Our community likes to have huge Halloween events in a central location which cuts down on the number of kids at the door. Plus, we don't have sidewalks to the kids have to walk in the street which isn't very safe at all, so maybe we get 5 to 10. That's it.

my driveway is very long, some people assume it's a street so we do not get any.I don't even bother getting candy.

I live out of the city, so I get zero. But, even when we did live in an apartment in town, the apartment management passed out signs that you could put on your door to tell people if you were giving candy or not. Mine was never up.

when my DH and I lived in the appt building, the care taker put a notice on the elevators wall said they were offering candy to the children living in this the building and ask all the parents do not let their children go trick-or-treating inside the building. I guess it is for safty purpose. This is our first Halloween in our new house, i have the candy already. I hope i can get some kids knock on my door, that will be fun!! I will turn the Chrismas lights( the little colorful lights the previous house owner left for us) on , so i will get more kids. I am so exciting since this is the first time that i am giving out candys!
![]() I will let you know how many kids i get later.
