depending on the weather, one year when it was rainy, only about 6 came by. When it's nice and warmer, we usually have between 20-30.

My parents used to buy one box of king sized candy bars because we would get so few visitors and they wanted to make it worth the treaters' hike. Most years we had no visitors at all. Eventually the handful of kids in the area grew up and stopped trick-or-treating. My parents' house is on a cul-de-sac with 14 houses spaced out pretty significantly. It simply wasn't profitable to visit any of those homes. If I wanted to go out, we took a trip to a much denser neighborhood that was prepared for the influx.

Sometimes my mom brings home a bag of candy and I know it is only for her own candy bowl. It is half-sincerely premised as Halloween candy, but that bag rarely survives until the actual holiday.
