Mine lasts about 3 days but I have the first gen phone. You all should keep in mind with the type of battery on the iPhone its best not to let the battery die all the time. The limited number of charges actually means full charges from dead/almost dead to fully charged. With this type of battery it is best to charge it before your bars reach the half way mark.

Here's some info from Apple about the battery. Also if you all didn't know you still maintain 80% of your battery after 400 FULL charges.

Charge Cycles

A properly maintained iPhone battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 400 full charge and discharge cycles. You may choose to replace your battery when it no longer holds sufficient charge to meet your needs.

http://www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html

“After 400 complete cycles, the iPhone’s battery still has 80 percent of its charged capacity,” Joswiak said. “And by a complete charge cycle, I mean completely draining the battery, a full chemical cycle.” In other words, using a little battery and then putting your iPhone back in its dock doesn’t count as a charge cycle. If you use a quarter of your iPhone’s battery and then re-charge it, Joswiak said, that’s the equivalent of a quarter of a charge cycle.

“If you top it off, you’re not wasting a charge cycle,” Joswiak said.

You can find tons of articles about the battery life if you want to learn more. Hope that helps!

I agree the battery sucks. I can have it fully charged when I leave work at 6 and I hardly use it when I am home and by the morning it is usually around 40%

Weird. I don't turn off 3G or Wifi, AND I leave the "push" setting to every 15 minutes and my phone never runs down to more than 1/3 charge by the end of the day.

This includes using the internet (via Wifi usually, but occasionally 3G at school), texting, calling, playing games, and watching CSI: Miami for an hour + while I'm at the gym. I have a car charger too, for emergencies, but I've never fully drained my iPhone battery yet.

The iPhone battery isn't the type of battery that needs to be fully charged before you can use the phone. I asked them that same question when I bought my iPhone and they said it wasn't at all necessary.

Oh my goodness.
Your iPhone sounds great. Did you charge it 48 hours or for a while before you turned it on for the first time?

How is that possible. Mine dies out so quicky!

Mine is going in for service on Monday. I have spent four hours on the phone with Apple this week. I have the 1st generation, and don't get me wrong... I LOVE my iPhone - BUT it's my lifeline to my business (I'm in sales) so missing a call or having a phone die could mean commission or not!

So basically I told the guy tonight that I either wanted a new iPhone OR a check made out to AT&T in the full amount for a new Treo.

I'm pretty sure they'll send me a new one.

I don't have an iphone but I've read other people talking about this. Wifi and 3G use up a lot of battery life. I know it's already been mentioned, but one thing that will help prolong it is to turn off Wifi when it's not being used. You could also turn off 3G (and use EDGE instead) while not surfing the net, but turning off wifi alone should help too.

To help the battery connect to EDGE instead of 3G when not needed and put the screen brightness on the middle setting. Should help quite a bit.

Nope. I asked them if it needed to be fully charged before I used it and they said no. In fact, they have to turn in on at the store in order to activate it, so you couldn't fully charge it before they turn it on even if you wanted to.

My battery seems to die out the fastest when I use it to listen to music in my car (I drive very far in my commutes to Honolulu). When I listen to music all day, THEN my battery gets eaten up to about 1/2 by the afternoon. That's why I have my car charger. Any other time when I don't listen to music, and just do my normal routine of an hour + at the gym and browsing the internet, texting, and making calls, my phone never usually goes past 1/2 or 1/3 by the end of the day. Most times I just charge it over night without using my car charger.

If you have serious problems with your battery it could be a faulty battery. I've heard of this before, and if you take it back to Apple they should replace it with a new battery or a new iPhone (per their warranty). Good luck!

I was afraid of that and that's my main reason why I stuck with my first generation iPhone. I am planning on getting a new one someday when they increase the battery life.

this is great info to have! thanks!

my battery CAN last for 2 days but it's usually one day if i'm playing games or surfing the internet, etc. it lasts for more than 1 day if i am just using the phone. i turn off most everything (location finder, e-mail push, etc) and that helps.
