I hate the winter. Just the thought of leaving the house and getting back in complete darkness depresses me so much
I've actually fell deep in the past couple of weeks already... kinda early for the winter blues... hmmm, maybe because I'm unemployed and feel useless anyway, so that just adds to that... UGH, go away, winter!

I am SO moving to Florida or California as soon as I get a chance! I am dead serious. SAD messes with me big time. I agree with a previous poster that it gets worse from year to year.

I don't like winter either. Chicago winters are just awful - as if the commute wasn't already bad enough.

I can't wait to move outta here!

Yay...another Seattle tPF'er!!

ITA...we had an AMAZING late summer/early fall with terrific weather. Remember how awful last summer was (2008)? And after all that record setting snow last winter, we deserved a nice, long summer like we had. I didn't even mind the triple digits at the end of July either!

I embrace our four seasons...the changes are very - I don't know - sensual, I guess. Hard to explain.

So yes, here in the Great Northwest us locals are used to grey, gloomy weather many months of the fall/winter. I've lived here all my life and am used to it, but many who have moved here from sunnier climes have a hard time adjusting - completely understandable. February is a real popular month to get out of town around here....Hawaii and Mexico are very popular getaways!

I fight off winter blues by trying to keep active. You can't let dreary, rainy days stop you from having fun on an outside walk - a little polar fleece and rain gear is just fine if it's not a huge downpour.

I also increase my vitamin supplement intake. I take stronger vitamin C supplements, plus I've started Iron recently and now Vitamin D in larger doses. I've heard we're prone to be pretty deficient in it due to lack of strong sunlight here.

AND...many of you know I took up (ice) hockey a few years ago. This is the perfect antidote to a dark, rainy night: I get to the rink and am under bright lights, a white sheet of ice, cold crisp air, exercise and fun people to play with . Good "stimulation" mentally and physically through the blahs.

*has dry itchy skin*

I despise winter! Especially since the summer here felt was so boring and lasted less than 3 months. And now it's going to be 7 months of misery! Ugh. Winter in Chicago is so depressing......especially because my boyfriend lives right next to the beach/lake and it's too cold to go now.
