For sure. Its totally a learning expirience. I'm just glad I'm not a studio photographer who has to deal with lighting setpus. They can get hella complicated.

Here is the one of my little sister that made it into the student competitive. I am pretty happy I made it, since I was going against other media and grad students. Only 70 of almost 300 hundred entries made it into the show.

Oh, and no child abuse took place during this photo!

Truly monstrous - compared to my other lenses - the performance on my D300 though makes up for the added weight and size a million fold.

ooooohhh, aaahhhh nice!

No, actually she was my subject for my enigmatic portrait project. I dressed her in the big headbow and long nightgown. We were going for a little girl lost theme... I guess you could say. This photo was taken on the staircase, and I asked her to scream without making any noise. She was a good little actress!

The lens is 2.8 across the full 70-200 range. The iguana was shot at f/2.8.

LOL, I'm going to have to ask megs for a second opinion regarding the "freakishly strong arms"

Great shots! I like the iguana shot. The 70-200 at 2.8 has such a wonderful bokeh, looks like a sea of green flame.

Impasto, great shots too!! I never took any classes in photography. Everything I know I have learned from web sites, forums, and just looking at countless photos.

I'm into photography but I'm just getting started since I got my first DSLR only a month ago. It's Canon EOS 450d with 18-55mm IS lens and 100mm 2.8 macro lens. I'm saving up for 70-200 4.0 L right now but would prefer 70-200 2.8 if I could come up with enough money...who am I kidding, I would even be able to hold it straight

I'm loving it!!! Even though I'm not even close to where I wanna be (picture quality) I love taking photos. And that's what it counts, right?

^^Absolutely! I don't think anyone is ever where they want to be, but that's what's so great about it, there's always room to improve and new things to try no matter how good you are.

Very nice, Canon Xsi (450d) is a great dslr. I got one just so I can continue to use my canon lenses since I recently sold my Canon 1d mark 3!

the Canon 70-200mm lenses are fantastic. Definitely look into the f4 IS version, it is the latest 70-200mm from canon along with the latest generation of IS. general consensus is that it is as sharp if not a bit sharper than the legendary f2.8 versions. Also, it is a lot smaller and lighter than the 2.8 version. but if you absolutely need/want the 2.8, then the 4.0 doesn't do you any good

Just go out there and take as many pictures as you can!

wow, take pics when you get it, as well as samples!

I really like that picture you did for your final portfolio! Even though I'm completely unqualified and untrained in photography, I'd give you an A!!

everyone's pictures are so amazing---the opera house one is just phenomenal.

I like to pretend I'm good at photography. I got into it early w/ an old 35mm & my dad even built me a darkroom---but I stopped for various other things & just last year got my first dSLR. a super entry level nikon d40x. I only have two lenses--a 55-200mm VR & i think it's the 18-55mm VR (i'm too lazy to go look at it). the next lens i want is the 70-300 VR

I love VR, it's the best invention ever.

here's a sample i took last month

untouched
