People may bump their post numbers to get in on some of the RAOKs that go on in various sub-forums but that's short-lived I think.

Sometimes another person has said all there is to say about how lovely, fabulous, and envy-worthy a collection is.

I get a little tired of the abbreviated "congrats" but that's just me and it's no big deal to see it from other people. I just don't pay attention to it and go on about my business without giving it another thought.

Since I finally figured out how to post an avatar I post to see my girl's picture

Personally, it doesn't bother me. If someone posts that they're pregnant, I usually write congrats!. I mean honestly, if I don't know them, I don't know what to say except Congrats or congrats and best wishes. I do not do it to bump my post rate. I think it's wonderful when I see pictures of people's children or when they post that they are expecting. When I write congrats or he's adorable!, I truly mean it. I don't do it, so I can have more posts.

I agree with, who says it's done to boost their post count?

Many times there is not a lot more to say than that...it doesn't mean I didn't mean the compliment.

You posted because you wanted to share...they responded...be happy. Would you rather they say...

Ugly!

Waste of money!

Braggart!

All of those would boost their counts as well.

OK...this is funny!! But, seriously I try to write at least a sentence if possible. It's nice to say a little more than one word when the OP has worked hard on posting pics, etc.

For instance, twinkle.tink, I joined joined 6 months after you, and MY post count is ONLY 2,257 and YOURS is 16,004....HMMMM.....Just sayin'!!

(of course, you know I'm kidding...)

Depending on the topic depends on the comment that I write.

I didn't join here to have big post numbers. I am usually caught off guard when I happen to catch my post count because I am not tracking it!

I guess its not nice to assume that is what people are doing...unless they told you thats what they are doing!

to me, when someone says "congrats", "cool" or whatever, I look at it as a lil' peck on the cheek. I don't need anyone going into a blathering diatribe about how much they like my new bag. a simple one of these makes me smile

(I also give short comments too. but trust me, I got to over 20,000 posts by blathering on about other things... - like this!!!)
Gotta love the blathering diatribe!!

Actually, I rarely posts in reveal threads anymore...I just happen to be more loquacious

Whew! :)

I guess I just have no life...lol

If you look at my stats, it shows... Posts Per Day: 18.80. Which really is not that many. I have just been around for awhile. In a few weeks it will be three years.

I try to go into lots of different designer forums. Just to look at the different bags. So about 1/2 the time I will just say congrats, to be polite. I mostly buy LV and I am VERY active in there, not just the reveal threads. I feel I know enough about LV to give advice when questions are asked. In the other designer forums I don't know as much so I can't give advice.

Also another reason besides wanting to see bags I normally would not buy that I go into lots of different subforums. I am hoping people will notice my signature and want to join us for our tPF meets.

i admit before when i heard members had to get at least 600 posts to be able to get into the marketplace...so i think i did it. but i think i did like less than 10 posts like that. but i didn't keep up that momentum...b/c i just didn't feel like it anymore...plus i was denied at the time

another thing is...i thought it is a polite thing to comment after you read a thread...?? no? when i see some bags i like...i usually say lovely, beautiful or congrats...what else am i supposed to say. i didn't want to google the bag and write a paragraph about the bag...?? it's a social network at the end of the day....what do u expect?

Why would someone want to bump their post rate?
IMO, I'd rather have someone comment that they like my collection in a few words, or a thousand, it doesn't matter. Sometimes if there is an insainly long post, I'll just skim over the words.
Short and sweet is the way to post
