Why would ppl want to bump up their posts? What's the benefit? I think if someone takes the time to read a post AND post something (even if it's just one word), then it's nice enough

people type one word responses to get their post rate up???
um..why do they care about their post count? does it have any significance?

i tend to think people just respond with one word because they see the bags, think they're nice, but just don't feel so motivated to go into a whole thing about it. yet they want to thank the OP for sharing.

someone shows their bags, i think, oh nice, but that's about it. i don't need to go into a whole paragraph on their bags.

i really doubt it's to raise post count? unless there is something i am missing?

wow. now we have to worry about writing a long enough response to someones reveal? sheeeesh. people will get upset about any little thing.
to me, when someone says "congrats", "cool" or whatever, I look at it as a lil' peck on the cheek. I don't need anyone going into a blathering diatribe about how much they like my new bag. a simple one of these makes me smile

(I also give short comments too. but trust me, I got to over 20,000 posts by blathering on about other things... - like this!!!)

I think the OP was implying it has something to do with getting into the Marketplace. It used to, I don't think it matters now....been too long - I don't remember!

ahhh..thanks.

personally, i'd prefer someone just say 'cool', 'congrats', etc.
i mean, i would really find it worse to just post a bag thread, and basically see 40 views and only like 2 posts. would make me feel better that people were at least acknowledging they saw my bag and liked it. or were at least happy for me.

that is why i would do a 'congrats'. i mean, it's someone else's bag..not mine, so really, what do i care. but to be kind and show support for fellow bag lovers, it's nice to let them know you saw it and like it and are happy for them (since we all know how exciting a new bag is).

One word, or a whole sentence, does'nt really matter. Its just nice that people take the time out to at least say something.

I agree w/Shoo, a quick word, such as 'cool' or 'congtrats' is like a lil peck. Better than being ignorant IMO.

lolll funny OP - i get what you're saying. i'm on tpf often and don't see how some people can have SO MANY posts but to just be writing "congrats!" on everyone's threads. but - this is not the case. personally, i am very happy when people take the time to write/post anything i write, so i don't want to take away from anyone else's "congrats" and "lovely" responses

That is funny. I just joined this forum but have been a member of another website for years and only have like 400 posts and I always read the new stuff. I feel like I respond alot. I always wondered how some people have like 20,000 posts. I mean where do they find the time? Now I guess your question answered mine. Bump up the postcount with a "sweet". I think I'm up to 2 now. Whew! :)

I dunno, it made me feel good to see 4 pages of congrats on my new LV. It's nice when people take the time to post something.

I agree with your whole post! It's always nice when someone drops by your thread and leaves you a little comment (even if it is just "congrats" or whatever), it's better than being ignored.

It's only weird when someone is asking for advice and instead they get a "congrats". Otherwise, who cares? Some people are just really succinct.
