Smile Tell me about Sofia!
Tell me all the pros and cons about this bag. I have fallen in love with it and am thinking of buying it in black. Is there much of a difference between the medium and large? Thanks!!

Any other suggestions would be appreciated for a great black bag!

Hi Kroquet,

I think this bag is magnificent. I do not own it, but have seen and held it IRL several times because it is at the top of my list when I am ready for a new black bag. The smallest size of the bag is available via Saks and NM, but that size is very small and impractical in my opinion. The opening is just so tiny. I believe the next size up is the best, but I am not sure if SF calls that medium or large, but the price point is @1895. It has a nice exterior zipped compartment in the rear, and under the front flap are two large openings, divided by a zipped compartment. It is lightweight and the leather is divine and the bag is light. Also, there is a removable shoulder strap. I love YSL and their new Roady flap is very similar and beautiful, but I think I like the SF just a bit more. It is just so sleek. I believe there are pics of Jennifer Aniston with this bag on the set of one of her new movies. I say go for it if you are in the market for a new black bag. Can't think of another black bag I would recommend right now.

I was about to go for this bag, but I found the opening clasp awkward. It was kind of like you needed to support the clasp from behind to really open it, but it was difficult to 'support' it, KWIM?

Gorgeous bag, though. I still think about it...

Alison - I'll tell you that I am drooling over the gathered Hobo that Eva Mendes is carrying. Love that bag, too.

Thanks for posting!

the bag Eva Mendes has is the one I am dreaming of
I can't decide whether to dream about the black or the red

the straps are so cool, both the buckled handle and the twisted long strap

I know! gorgeous in red, but I will be receiving my dream red in a couple of weeks, so the black is on my radar.

Love the Sofia and the hobo! Either one could be dressed up or down, which is exactly what I need. I keep leaning towards the Sofia, though. It's the equivalent of a Kelly that I will never own. lol

^That is beautiful, jburgh. Does it keep it's shape and stand after you've placed your things in it?

Yes! And the grommets at the top are where the messenger style strap attach. The large Sofia I have is in a black python with an unusual purple-grey undertone called Tulipan. Still waiting for the camera software to arrive and then I'll take some pics and post in this thread.
