The Chef looks better in person. I prefer the one with the darker brown leather. I like the De Jour bag as well.

I have the Fendi Black Maxi Baguette with the glazed/textured leather (as shown above) and it is STUNNING...I feel it is classic...kind of similar to Chanel's style but wth the beautiful Fendi Forever Gold clasp at the front and the beautiful adjustable gold chain straps....it is very classy!! The Gilt Groupe has Fendi sale going on right now with different colors...like 50% off...there may still be some available!!! There is....for half of what it retails for!! http://www.gilt.com/s/fendi/product/14675879. It may not be the color you like but they have the smaller version for sale in different colors also!

I just define a classic bag by it's resale value and consistent popularity. I mean, if it was still so coveted, why am I seeing Fendi Spy bags at resellers for $895-1100 (my spy cost me 2600 and it was sold for $895 at a resale shop - Fashionphile btw). If you look at Chanel flaps, they sell for almost retail value (some even higher). That's what I meant by it not being considered a classic, IMO. A couple of years ago, it used to be all over the place...recently I haven't seen it at all.

But what it comes down to is if YOU like the bag. It doesn't matter what other people think. Good luck on your hunt. We can't wait for your reveal!!
You have a good point but if you can buy one from a reseller for $850-$1100 then you can later resell it and not lose much, IMO. That is usually what I do...but I liked the spy bag so much more when I saw it in person...mmmmm blueberry!!! I agree, it doesnt hold its value like Chanels do....but I do think the spy bag is what Fendi is all about..it is my favorite of all my Fendis.

In terms of money, I totally agree with this. The only two brands where you can be pretty certain to get back what you paid (retail) if you resell are Chanel and Hermes. There are lots of others brands/styles that don't hold their original retail value, but are still considered classics: the LV Speedy, a Gucci hobo, a Prada tote...buy what you

I have the medium Zucca Chef and I love it! I bought it last year at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. I like the dark brown trim the best. The SA's there are always so friendly and helpful.

If you carry that much you definitely need a large size. The Spy is a great bag, it just keeps expanding. I also have the Bubble Chef and this is also a large bag ( hello in there...). I think it is easier to get in and out of than the spy. If you use it all the time the spy will wear at the piping at the handle base. I have not had any wear on either of my chefs.
If you are set on the spy, hang in there you will find what you are looking for. I purchased all of my spy's through *bay, only after authenticating here. Also check out Bonanzle.com. Many TPF'ers have gone over as *bay charges the seller huge fees and it's policies toward authentic bags tends to keep the authentic one's out and the fakes in. Just my opinion.

Default What Fendi bag would you recommend?
Like "Gotbighair", I was into the Spy bag too back in 2006 and loved it Since then, I have been off Fendi until recently.....I am so in love with the Peek-a-boo bag. Couldn't resist it so I got myself the SS 2009 black patent one with intricate gold leather inlay and lined in black suede (Gotbighair's posted earlier). Beautifully made and it has both gold and silver tone hardware on it!
I can't tell you enough how luxe it feels and so very elegant, chic and COOL all at the same time.
You've got lots of choices and there's plenty of info on all the bags. Happy bag-hunting!
