Hi Fendi lovers! I'm usually on the BV forum, but I am on a quest and this is the best place to start. And I tried to search for previous posts but didn't come up with anything.
![]() Anyway, a family member has fallen in love with the Spy bag-her sister has one of the early Cognac Spy bags. I'd love to look for a good condition pre-loved Spy, but first I need some advice:First, do you all think the Spy has become a classic that will be around for many years? I know it's already been very popular for quite a while. Second, are there any details in a used Spy that I need to pay special attention to, or questions to ask? For example, is there a part of the bag that tends to show wear or other problems that I need to know about? I hope this hasn't been too confusing. Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom for a Fendi newbie.

I think it's a classic! I don't know what to look for in a pre-loved one, but hopefully someone will chime in on that.

It's a classic for sure... And I treat mine like a newborn baby so I wouldn't know about it getting worn in places. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Thanks for your views. I read the old thread; don't know why my search didn't find it. I'll start looking and if I find one I'm serious about, I'll have it authenticated here by the experts!

I would ask for close up pics of the lip of the bag, the part where the handles attach to the bag (there's kind of a leather ring that sometimes gets really worn) and also the wristlet part. Depending on how used the bag is you'd really want to see close ups of the entire bag as the leather is pretty soft and can blush rather easily if not taken care of.
I definitley think the spy will be around for a long time. Regardless, I'll be carring mine until they fall apart!!!!

Hey boxermom! Great choice. I love to dabble in other designers, but I will always, ALWAYS, keep my wisteria spy, no matter what! The simplicity of its shape (nothing overly trendy) makes it timeless and infinitely elegant. I have one, and although I get distracted by new bags and trends, I will definitely get another spy someday.

Classic - Definitely! When my mom loved it, I knew it was a hit. I think the lip, the portion that hangs over by the coin pocket shows wear quickly due to rubbing against women's arms when they carry it on the shoulder. Also, corners as stated previously. I would also recommend a neutral color, it doesn't make it look as dated either.
I still have a ridiculous number of spies. I can't imagine ever letting them go, except for the large sequin paillette one, which I'm pretty much convinced that I had to have gone temporarily insane. |

I'm so happy to discover this thread today
! I've had a very, very gently pre-loved Spy (honey, I think?) in its sleeper bag in the bottom of my closet for over a year and JUST THIS MORNING, I woke her up from her long slumber, loaded her up with all of my LV Mono accessories and carried her out. Very glad to know she's not a "has-been."I'm using that little pouch in the handle to hold my iphone. I hope that is a secure closure. Anyway, any advice on carrying a spy? Can it withstand nasty (icy, snowy, rainy, cold) winter weather? I live in Buffalo, NY, and I need a sturdy bag! Oh... do you all carry a variety of accessories inside your Fendi Spy's? Or do you coordinate with other Fendi stuff? Thanks!! |
