Being smart or dumb does not have much to do with telling an authentic bag from a fake. It's about training, which was entirely my point. You don't seem interested in it, so like I said, agree to disagree. You have 3 separate people with a lot of knowledge about these things telling you it's fake, but if you only want to hear the positive reviews, that's your perogative.

I'm a total novice in the purse search and am totally baffled...I've spent days looking for nice bags on the Net but the volume of fakes is really discouraging and depressing...I hope to find something nice to carry this summer, so would appreciate your help.

This came home with the mother-in-law as a gift to me after she took a trip to Italy in 96 or 97.

There are no serial numbers anywhere.

I have put it on ebay but will not call it authentic because I cannot find the serial number. One site I went to said that serial numbers were not around pre-98. There is no history or listing of purse made by Fendi by year.

It is very confusing. I do not want to sell what is not authentic, but then I do not want to give away an authentic one either.
