Hi, I was flipping through some threads and noticed some members had "Banned" as their status..

I was just wondering what that meant.. does it mean they are no longer allowed on the forum to post? What would make a member banned from the forum? And who controls that?

Sorry, so many questions but I saw a member I had a "fishy" feeling about have "Banned" underneath their ID and got curious..

Yes, if banned is under a members name, they've been banned and no longer permitted to post here.
We don't ban often and it's not easy to get banned. Most recent bannings have been from spam or attacking tPF.
The Admins and Mods, but usually just the Admins control whom is banned.
We don't usually reveal why an individual was banned. . . not usually

A banned user had his/her privilge removed to participate, even view the forum and its contents. Megs, our mods and myself have the ability to ban a user from the forum. Reasons, if not painfully obvious, are usually not disclosed... but trust me when I say that we have very good reasons to ban someone off our board.

Banned members mean that they are no longer allowed to post or take part in the board. Some of them were trolls, or tried to sell fakes, or had to be banned for personal reasons- cursing, attacking other members, etc. If you read through the Purse Forum rules you will get an idea of what kind of atmosphere we look for (we don't always get it but we try!).

Ahhhh you're all doing a fab job, mods, admin - this is a great place to be with a great atmosphere!

I shan't try to get banned, that's for sure!

I know that members are only ever banned for good reason though, even though we mortal members may not always know about the particular circumstances.

Just a comment-I was reading a thread a few minutes ago by a member who was banned today-she may have signed up today too-I dont know but I still have tears rolling down my face I was laughing so hard-can these threads be moved into a new category like comic relief?

yeah there was a case where i felt vicotmised by a member, it wasnt a huge thing or i would have pmed you guys but it turend out that within the next week the person was banned so i was happy

If there is an offensive post, use the little red triangle with the '!' right by the post (under the poster's name) to report it to an admin/mod.

I noticed that a banned member was still posting 4 hours ago. She was supposed to have been banned for some time. Why can she still post? Just wondering.

Just a silly question, but sometimes I see Sofa King Banned under some member's pictures...what does that mean?

It's just the default title that goes under one's user name when they're banned.
