Default Post editing

Hi Everyone,

Is this function disabled, or am I looking in the wrong place (there used to be an icon in the lower right of posts)?

Thanks,
Rose

The edit button is still there, but it disappears after 30 minutes.

Thank you!

Are any options available beyond the 30-minute window?

30 minutes is a lot, I think it's used to be more like 7-8 minutes.

Actually, this brings up something I've wondered for a while now. On some forums I've been on, you have the option not to show that you have edited your post. Is that in the software here? Vlad?

I'm positively anal about fixing typos in my posts. If I see one, I go back and correct the typo, but then you get that "edited" message at the bottom. Yetch!

When you edit your post within 2 minutes of posting it, the "edited message" doesn't show up.

I know, but I read slow. I usually don't notice until past the 2 minute mark.

Suggestion (in case you haven't figure it out by now): use 'Preview Post' first and change what you don't like, Preview Post again, and when you're happy with what you see hit 'Submit Reply' or 'Submit New Thread' (depending on which one you're writing). I try to be careful with typos and spelling etc. and Preview is a great feature.
Both buttons are located below the Smilies (after you choose 'Go Advance' instead of 'Post Quick Reply').
Hope it helps!

It used to be 15, and I am very grateful that they widened it to 30, although I would have preferred something more like 60 days, and I am still horrified that a "window" would be needed at all on the Purse Forum, of all places!

it seems that you can't edit the thread title. it shows up in the edit post but when you click on 'save changes' the old thread title shows up.

I'm glad people don't have forever to edit. . . sometimes people say things and are called out on it, they could just go back and edit and pretend it didn't happen

^you're right, members may not edit their thread titles.

yeah and if they use profanities, it shouldnt allow them to edit at all, only by a mod. Im sick and tired of people throwing "idiots", "wh*res" and such around and not dealing with any consequences.

I was thinking about this after posting and logging off. . . it doens't make sense to allow people to forever edit what they write. Threads would start getting very murky if a lot of people did this. By the time you get to the end of the longer threads, if people are editing for hours/days/weeks it could get VERY confusing.
Not that Vlad would ever allow it, but I was just thinkin' . . . .

Heck, I'm just happy it's up to a half-hour now! I rarely need that long, but once or twice I've done a long edit to a post, and then when I went to save I was over the 10 minutes or so that used to be allowed and so couldn't post that long edit.
